Midi issue preventing game play!

#1 Post by HadesChild » Sat Apr 06, 2002 2:53 am

Heya!

I just downloaded this game today, so I might be over looking something, but please help if you can! Installation went fine, and I have the latest version of Direct X installed, so there should be no issue there either. However, when I try to play the game, I get an error message that says "Unable to initialize your audio software. (Problem: failed to init MIDI music driver)" I have no idea what to do, so any suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks!!! :-)

Jean M. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Hmmm...have you tried downloading and installing the MP3-pack. That might not solve the problem, but you might be able to work around it.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashb ...

This kind of error is typically caused by an interupt or DMA conflict. Be sure no other music-related programs are running on your system that may be using your sound card's resources. Are other devices, such as a scanner or video card using one or more of the same resources as your music card? Many sound cards can share resources with other devices, while others can't.

You may want to go into the SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / DEVICE MANAGER / SOUND setup and change the IRQ and/or DMA settings of your sound card and see if that will resolve the problem. Make sure there's no conflicts for any IRQ or DMA you change to. Windows will tell you if there is. (Be sure to reboot afterward.)

Sometimes, just a powered-down reboot is enough to solve the problem. Newer PC's, with built-in 'modem answering machines' and other sound programs, can be a pain when enabled during game play.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... dowski>Tom Lewandowski at: 8/10/02 1:16:34 pm
