No sound effects???

#1 Post by 2003theRebirth » Tue Dec 03, 2002 3:40 pm

Beautiful game (the intro movie is so sweeeeet) but so far I haven't heart any sound effects for instance when you walk through water, or when you score points. Anyone know if this is meant to be or is some kind of hardware problem??

This is odd. Sometimes there is a sound effect when you get a point, sometimes not.

There is no sound effect of walking through water unfortunately.

However you should hear a TON of other ambient sounds, such as birds, the ocean, forest noises, etc.

So if you're getting nothing, then it's a technical problem. Check your sound effects volume in the game control panel, or go back to winsetup.exe and see what sound device is selected. (There's a suggestion for Chris Jones - enable a 'test' button beside the music and sound options in winsetup!)

The KQ-fanfare that sounded when you picked something up locked up the game for certain testers, so in many occurences where you pick up an object, you won't hear it.

There are most definitely lots of sound effects though. Chirping birds, waves crashing on the shore, and more to come....

If you can't hear the waves at the beach, your wave-device (pun not intended) has a problem. As Relight mentioned; fiddle around with the volume controls and the setup.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

2003theRebirth: Was it you who posted this bug report in another forum:

"when you save while searching for the trident in the underwater part alot of times when you restore parts of the screen will be totally black. Its not a big deal because when you leave the screen and return its back to normal. I just thought I'd point that out."

Chris, It sounds like the this could be a bug on some systems with RawDrawImage not working properly after a game is restored where it's been used.

AGC2: are you using animating backgrounds at all? There is an issue where the save game only saves Raw changes to the current background frame, I'll see if I can fix it.

It's in room40 (underwater map screen)... this room uses five different background frames, but they're not animating.

Each time EGO re-enters room40, SetBackgroundFrame is called to set a new backdrop image. After that, RawDrawImage is used to draw the rock walls onto the screen in the appropriate places.
