Slow movement at night

#1 Post by Hiro Protagonist » Wed Dec 11, 2002 3:42 am

I don't know if anyone noticed, but on the screen with the town sign, Graham moves very slowly compared to other screens where everything else is normal. I don't know if this is due that there's so much animation being done on that screen, but it's the only one that is slower than the others.

Hmmm, I think this is a case of your PC not being as fast as the recommended speed listed in the system requirments (500Mhz).

While the game is still playable, it may slow down a little bit in places where a lot is going on in the screen.
Tierra Entertainment
http://www.tierragames.com

I have a P3 533 and I think i'm running it at 640x400. I suppose I should have it on 320x200. But that's the only screen that is different. Everything else plays smoothly. Again, just that particular screen and it happens all the time at night. It doesn't matter if there isn't anything on the screen or not, it still goes slow.

Could you try temporarily setting the resoltuion to 320x200, starting a new game, and then walking into that particular screen? Let me know if there's any difference.

PS. Remember to run setup and change it back to 640x400 after testing it so that your savegames will work again.

slow movement

I had the same problem on the same screen, and also on all the seashore screens when I was running the game at high resolution.
When I changed to 320x200, the game sped up on the beach screens, so I guess it would be the same at night on that screen (I'll check it now).
Also, switching to 320x200 also seem to made other bugs disappear (like the echo when screens change & game freeze), and I didn't have any since except the one I mentioned on a seperate topic.

BTW - I didn't install the patch yet for fear of getting other bug <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

Well I think this is because you are using directx display instead for your usual display driver. I mean when I switched off the directx 3d and the display renderer from directx and and tried to play the game without the directx it didn´t work because it didn´t found my resolutions for it so I tried it to switch to 640x400. So when I let the directx work again the game worked again with the fastest display speed 320x?. Most of those directx slow down my games and give me a horrible graphics in the game but when I play a game wich I can use with my Voodoo 3d 3000 card the games run smootly and faster.

Argh! The spell check didn´t work now so I hope you can read this.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... >Fribbi at: 12/12/02 10:42:07 pm
