Thank you very much!

Edited the first scene to be less busy looking and match up to the second screen. (might also add some flowers or other things later on)

Very nice screens. Keep it up! :)

Thank you. It's coming along. Slowly but surely. The scripting code is the hardest thing to grasp. It's a chore just to learn how to do simple things like change the border space on the GUI windows, which I'm trying to do right now.

About Kings Quest 2 SCI

That should been though of in the 1990's when the other SCI games were on the market.

It was. Actually Sierra meant to update all the older AGI games with SCI remake counterparts but stopped short of the first in each series' when they found how much the sales bombed and people hated the idea of "ruining the classics". Too bad...but anyway most of the remakes are being done now anyway by fans :).

Cool remake

Your SCI remake seems like it would actually feel like playing the original, that's fantastic. Back in the 1990's if losers like me had actually paid for our sierra games instead of copying them from friends, we might have more VGA remakes and originals from Sierra around today. Plus, if I knew anything about programming, I could make my own remake of a game.

Your work looks great so far! excuse my rambling.

Here's a few pictures of the GUI I'm currently going with. I was going to go with the KQ1SCI identically, but I thought I'd go with a different colour scheme. Kind of a cross between KQ1SCI's and KQ5EGA's. What do you think? I'm open to suggestions.

Nice GUIs, seems like you're getting the hang of it pretty quickly. I'm just wondering... Will this version come with a voice pack, a music pack, both or neither (or undecided)?

Since it'll be in Sierra's old 16-colour SCI0 engine, there won't be any digital sounds at all, let alone music or voice packs. It's impossible. I'm not making this in AGS.

The GUI looks cool I love the border :), not too sure about grey as the main colour tho, but I suppose your pretty limited in what you can actually use. I did a recolour in paint using just white and it looks better IMO.

White is just so bland, is the only thing. I tried it myself and I didn't like it at all. Maybe it was just with that border, though. But either way, it's too plain. Having a plain white window while KQ1SCI is all colourful is kind of a step down.

I understand what you're saying, but I'd just be hesitant to call grey less bland than white.

Oh I agree :). This is just what I stopped with after doing many different schemes. Hence my initial post.

Here's a preview of what's to come for the Grandma's cottage screen. This time I'm doing the totally revisioned background look like Sierra did with their remakes instead of carbon-copying the originals. I'm going for the cozy forest cottage almost-melded-with-the-trees look.

EDIT:
A little more detail and some colour.

Most of the colouring finished...I know that fence is weird. I couldn't figure out what else to do with it without changing the previous picture (which I'll probably end up doing). All that's left pretty much is details now.

I think I'm done this scene now.

Here's another GUI scheme idea I came up with. More lively-looking and yet different from KQ1SCI.

I've decided to whip up a little website for my little project here. I also integrated a new category into my main site's forums specifically for KQ2SCI. Most updates will be posted there from now on (so I don't have to go to all the forums I frequent and update lol). Please visit the site if you would like to keep up on the project and visit the forums if you've got any comments :)!

Hi i am new to this board but i have some questions about this remake
1. Will the easter eggs the sign for the black cauldron and looking in the hole in the rock on top of the mountain showing Space Quest 1 still be there ?
2. Will you have a speech pack for this game ?

It was already answered that it won't (and can't) have a speech pack.

I wasn't aware of the Black Cauldron egg, but I will be keeping the hole in the rock egg. I'll probably make it a preview of SQ2SCI.

The only easter egg sign in the game that I know of is in room 30 (three north, one east of start), but that mentions SQ1 and KQ3, not Black Cauldron.

Ahh I see (reading in AGI Studio). Yeah, there's no reference to Black Cauldron, though. Maybe in a different version? Or maybe somewhere else in the game....
