When using the character.say option, the speech is written above the character, but the speech view doesn't run (it only shows 1 frame out of the whole loop). I could solve this by using character.think, but is there no way to have the character move his lips and produce words at the same time with speech/say?

p.s.
I have AGS 2.7.2.

Have you called the character into the current room? Your problem will occour if you haven't, yet have called a cCharacter.Say command. Just a thought.

the character is in the room, and I set the cCharacter.say as a response to looking at an item.

Is this the same for other people as well, or am I the only one experiencing this problem?
