Extracting Background Images from the VGA QFG Games?

#1 Post by trezy » Mon May 28, 2007 3:47 am

Hey all, I am looking to make a interactive map for QFG 1 and I am wondering if it is possible to extract the Background Images from the game files.  I mainly want to do this to experiment with Flash, and I have been looking around and there are not many good maps of the game around.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sounds like extra work to me! PrintScreen and paste is more than acceptable.

Print screening is a bit of work if you want just the background wtohu the hero since you have to take 2 shots and paste over the hero with the second hero free shot of an area.

I think that SCI Studio http://agisci.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ will let you open the games resource files and extract the backgrounds.

SCI Studio won't view every single SCI game. Here's a relatively newer program that will open any SCI game (right up to LSL7, KQ7, SQ6, Phantasmagoria, etc).

Ooh, I've been waiting for a resource extractor for the later Sierra games. Can't wait to give this a try! Thanks SO MUCH for posting this!

It's not really a extracter. Just a viewer. It does export, but not in its native format, sadly.

True. It exports to BMP, though, which is good enough for me.
