I don't think game making is "easy" per se, so I wouldn't say any "easy" game makers actually exist. However there's AGS which is the best out there for adventure games. I've heard of RPG Maker and Game Maker but haven't tried them.

For adventure games, Adventure Game Studio is fantastic. I don't like the newer version very much, though.

I'm excited to see how SLAGE is coming along, though.

There is an actual program called Game Maker which I have been using for the past few years. I like it very much and it was fairly easy to learn. There are many guides and tutorials available to help you. You will need to write some very simple code to create any good games with it, but it's not hard to learn. It can create any kind of non-3D game; it's not limited to "adventure games". The easiest kinds of games to make with it are sprite-based action games, although I imagine an adventure game would be fairly easy too.

It is free to use but I would suggest just paying the $20 registration fee as it unlocks many useful features.

You can get it at yoyogames.com

I' ve used Game Maker. Never bothered to buy the full version. It's not so good for Sierra-KQ style games.
Great for Platform - Style Games though.
