I gotta say i disagree LP, like, the textures in his are just SO much better than vga, i think having all of qfg 1 with these graphics would look sweeeeet.
And tbh i think that provided exposure and perspective were correct, 3d characters could work well.

Can we see any more screens agp?

I would use Daz3d for characters. It's great, and free. Yours are good though, I would like to play it when it's done. ;)

Kotskoets, that's not being blunt, that's being both blind and a jackass. If I do say so myself, the background looks fantastic.

And thanks Solarkid and 12...0.

Oh, and I hope to have a 4-screen demo done soon (just got my second in-game background!). Plus, all the original opening screens re-done (have them already). It will include at least one screen outside town, because Spielburg won't be completely finished until, at the earliest, one of my artists told me, January (which is why I got a second guy to do the outside stuff).

Dude you really need to chill when people question or criticize. Not everyone's going to like your stuff or understand your motives.

Dude, I'm perfectly chill when people write reasonable criticism. It doesn't even have to be constructive, but the guy was being more than a little rude. As is your defense of his "questioning" me.

Considering your reaction to my previous post of simply asking why you chose to remake a remake was to, I dunno, try to pick a fight with me or something (honestly I'm not sure what your motives were there) on another unrelated thread and your reaction to this post, I'd say no you're not. Your condescending and defensive.
I'm not saying what Kotskoets said was right or that I agree with it, I'm saying if you're going to tackle a project like this you're going to have to calm down and learn to take it maturely.
There are always going to be critics, especially when you're in an artistic field and calling them a jackass is not an appropriate response, even if they are.

That wasn't very well your question, though, and you know it. You all but called my effort pointless. And on the other thread I wasn't picking a fight, I was making a more-than-a-little-valid point.

As for being condescending, I can tell you to condescend would be to write ""your" means "belongs to you;" the word for which you were looking was "you're." Sorry, couldn't help myself!

But I do think that's enough of this discussion on this thread, which I still hope to use to post a link to the aforementioned 4-screen demo.

I'm going to be completely honest with you: When I asked why you wanted to remake a remake I was expecting an answer like: "Because Quest for Glory has inspired me to make games so I wanted to give something back." Or something to that effect. I wanted to know why you wanted to make this game because personally it wouldn't have been my first choice because it's already been done.
And your point wasn't valid, it was snarky. You wanna throw a temper tantrum every time someone asks a question, be my guest.
I'm out. Count this as a win on your internet fight tally if you want, I'm not even going to read your posts. I'm done with you and your thread.

Guys, enough. I didn't reply the last time because I don't want this thread to be about this little girl. But so long as I'm being forced to post yet again about this, here goes my response.

It's not necessarily my first choice, and it's not the only program on which I'm working. It's just one that concerns this forum. But it is a game I love, to which I hope to contribute. None of this changes the fact that you were implying my efforts were pointless.
And your point wasn't valid, it was snarky. You wanna throw a temper tantrum every time someone asks a question, be my guest.
No, my unanswered point was very valid: how is drawing Quest for Glory any more relevant than programming it? They're both hobbies.
I'm out. Count this as a win on your internet fight tally if you want, I'm not even going to read your posts. I'm done with you and your thread.
I really do hope so, because once again, I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE THIS THREAD ABOUT THIS.

AGP,

People are ALWAYS going to call into question what you do. It's almost always irrelevant - does doing it make YOU happy? If so, then you smile politely and say "Sorry you feel that way." and you continue in the way that you see fit.

Personally, I think your effort is awesome and I'd be tickled pink to play it. Keep working, and work hard. Take criticism, but take it lightly.

Keep on truckin', man, and fill me in when you've got a demo or something. I'd love to see what you're doing.

Thanks a lot, pal. I really hope to have a 4-screen demo by next week. I got the sheriff and another screen yesterday!

Right on. Just keep pluggin'. That's all you can ever do in this genre. I've seen a lot of promising projects come and go - all you have to do is keep pluggin. Especially when the prospects look bad! Being able to work in the harder times puts it all into perspective.

Awww man i missed the fight!
I always miss fights :(

A 4 screeny demo sounds great agp! Im honestly really excited because i know they've all been remade, but its just the idea of quest for glory in like modern day graphics is pretty cool. Though i do understand some people not seeing much point in another remake, i think theres plenty of people who would be really keen too.

Honestly I'd love this game even if it was just reworked backgrounds inserted to the same game. Maybe a text scheme that didn't look so similar to the dialogue box would be nice too but that's really all. Also maybe clear up that nasty dead end with the skull jewels.

Thanks for the interest, everyone. Yes, it's still going (got all of Spielburg outdoors now and about 9 other screens). I'm waiting for the screen just outside town to have a sequence, through the healer's, towards Braggi (although he won't be there yet). I imagine by the end of the week I can release an ALPHA (!) version of the demo. Hopefully that will get me some volunteers. Just a warning: the sheriff looks worse than Otto! Hey, if someone gets encouraged to make me others I'd be more than a little willing to replace all of the characters (so far I only have three: Hero, the sheriff, and Otto).

Question, as I get ready to release a very much broken (but fairly large) demo: would people rather they get to install the demo, or would you prefer to just extract it into a directory and run it?
