Question for the artists

#1 Post by duckwizard » Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:20 pm

As someone who appreciates the work that must go into creating all the backgrounds, characters, portraits, etc. in an AGDI game (or any game, for that matter) but has no artistic inclination whatsoever, I am super curious:

What's your process? What tool(s) do you use for your art? Do you sketch on paper first? If so, do you scan your sketch and draw over it? Do you use a tablet? Or do you paint the whole thing in analog and then just clean it up in the computer? Do you ever use 3D renderings? Or for that matter, do you just start with a blank screen and lay every pixel by hand?

Would love to hear from AGDI artists, but also from anyone who dabbles.

Out of curiousity, have you looked at John Paul Selwood's behind-the-scenes feature on the KQ3 section of our site?

Heh - just noticed that, and it answers pretty much all my questions. Thanks :)
