This is where programmers, graphic artists, sound engineers, musicians, and people with ideas come together to collaborate on their game projects. <br><br>So you might wonder why you should use this forum for collaborations and not your own forum. The idea behind this is that with this forum hosting many projects, the collaboraters can help with multiple projects and you will get more help this way. Also through several projects coming together in one forum, we can build a great community feel. <br><br>If you have a project you are starting, simply pm me with a few details of your project and I will set up your own category and 1 forum for each game that you are making. I will then make you mod of your forums so you can enforce the rules however you want. <br><br>If you are just feel like helping someone out with a project, then you can just simply go to a forum and start collaborating. What I'm wondering about:<br><br>- Once a team starts going, they won't want to have their folder open to the public, but they'll want to work in a private forum. (so not every John Doe can have access to their source/work, nor can every John Doe view their plot/puzzles before the game comes out) And with a private forum, there's no "great community feel", since only a few can get in.<br><br>- It's going to be tough getting a consistent art style when lots of people make minor contributions. I suppose what I could do is give a developer a public as well as a private forum. In the public forum, people could try to help with suggestions and maybe sprites or music. Then you could have a private forum which allows the team members work with such things as source code, graphics, and storyline that you don't want to leak out. You get all sorts of styles and qualities, but somehow out of all of it, variety can be good for a project or bad. It can be a flaw with collaboration, but its just an obsticle you have to get around. There are certain pros and cons with collaboration. This is an especially good idea for beginners to get there foot in the door. I felt self-concious for the longest time and now I finally am working on a project. It took me over a year to go through with showing my artwork and getting in on a development team. I can say I am lucky to have found one so good.<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> Now I have a second project in the works. Hopefully I can juggle the two.<br><br>Back on topic. This is a great idea that will generate a community of both the experienced and beginners alike. <p></p><i></i>

i love this idea of this site too; i have ZERO artistic ability and ZERO programming ability (though I think i could pick that up... my artistic ability though is atrocious)<br><br>but i love to write, and it took me about 3months to find a really dedicated team where i could do lots of writing for them... i'm having a blast doing dialogues and plot twists for QFI<br><br>so bravo on the web-site, hopefully it'll help people like me find really strong teams in an even shorter amount of time... great job! <p></p><i></i>

Actually, my personal experience has been the opposite, oddly enough. I know more good artists than good programmers.<br><br>Maybe it's just the demographic. People who play games and are inspired by that tend to turn to programming more, as it's the actual hands-on work of making a game. Especially computer games--I find there are more artists than programmers among primarily console game players. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <p></p><i></i>

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm looking for people to help me with my project, and I remembered this old thread about a forum for game developers to help each other out. However, the link to the forum appears to be broken or hacked; it brings up a page about a porn site.

Does this forum still exist? Has it moved? Or is there another similar forum where I could get help? Thanks.

I have thought along these lines before. There are a LOT of good artists, programmers, writers, etc. out here, but we all want our game to be finished before we help others, it seems. I have always thought if a group could agree to cooperate, not so much to make games together, but to FINISH games together, know what I mean?

I have trouble finishing games cause I never have decent character art, thus I can't get decent animations finished, etc. On Demo Quest, we have had two excellent animators (Pttr and PenguinX) but they both have stopped posting and do not reply to e-mails. Of course, this is quite discouraging for all involved.

I think that's part of why AGDI is so sucessful. They're all talented, they get along well, and most of all, they're dedicated to finish what they start.
