i used SCI decoder 1.0 to dump to a file a picture from kq5.
It saved it as pic.001.
How can i view this picture ? I used SCI studio but i had no success!
Which utility should i use to open the picture ? thanks

DosBox usually works. You can also go to the AGI&SCI site and get some utilities from there. I'd say DosBox works best, though.

You're welcome. Also another tip: it's best to use the SCI image ripper with DosBox for KQ5, Longbow, and also Space Quest 1 remake. That one's a little tricky because the palette's all screwed up if you use the VGA view utility, so DosBox is best.

I have just finished ripping. I used SCI decoder and it took me a while
with print screen and paste in photoshop. I wish there was a more direct way. You said about SCI image ripper. Is this a different utility?

oh! I think i found a faster way. Using SDV under dosbox and pressing CTRL+F5 combination of dosbox. I am going to try it now.

No. It's easier to get the views from that SCI VGA View Editor. That way you don't have to use PRNTSCRN on frame after frame after frame.
BTW, Could you show what pics you ripped?

if you mean sci studio, i had tried it but it could not read the resources
(said they were encrypted with an unknown method for version 3.01)
I have ripped ALL pictures of KQ5 and i have just ripped Longbow in 5-10 minutes. SQ1 is next

No, it's a different utility you can find on google.
Hey, can you send me the swell pics that you ripped?

i read quickly that is supports very early and particular sci games such as larry. Perhaps i will try it in the future. I have completed ripping.
What exactly do you want? i Can email them to you. Longbow pack is 2.24 megabytes big for example
=================
needless to say that it is a VIEW editor, and not a picture editor

Just the longbow ones for right now, maybe the KQ5 ones later, since I'm making a template.

Har har har.
You know there are easier and more secret utilities if you dig around on the net. Dig deep.

You want to share your information with us Bt ?
I would appreciate if you tell me the name of these utilities...
I have problems viewing qg1vga for example.
Alliance send me your email with private message.
Maybe i will send them from the Lab tommorow.
I have the backgrounds in the pack. No Views.

Anyone who knows how KQ6 resourses are viewed ?
SCI decoder does not work in this game.
'Just Dig' suggestions are not useful (I am already doing that).

No, I'm not. Take a look at my QFG4 snapshot I gave. The header on the top of the border isn't from any programs most people use.

Bravo! Well done!Keep your secret safe! You do not want to have this piece of classified information (how to extract pictures from sierra games) to be leaked!
(I love forums...These situations like the above are the cherries of the cake.
)
Alliance i tried sending you the longbow pack, but it failed...
Maybe you should try extracting the pics by yourself.
