Can anyone tell me if there's a program around with which I can rip the screens etc from PQ3?

PQ3 is a SCI1 game, and SCI Studio doesn't support that yet.
I'd suggest you google SCI1 picture extract, or something like that.

Ah, thanks for that, but these don't dump to any editable file-format. SCI Decoder gives you previews though, but it's a dos program, so my xp-box won't capture it... so I'm like the carrot chasing the rabbit tied to its own back..
I can see it... but I can't reach it

You could run SCI Decoder through
DOSBox and make screenshots that way.

Take screenshot of background. Paste into graphics program. Move Sonny to another place in the background. Take noth screenshot. Paste again. Edit together.
Repeat.
Backgrounds with unmovable NPCs are a bit trickier, but there's not too many in PQ3 as I can recall. But still, with the ones that are there, just edit the background pixel by pixel until the NPC is gone.

Nah, the dosbox approach in combination with the source-dump programs worked. Thanks all.
