Well, they're already as remade as anyone ever wanted them... in VGA and with the good old interface. So unless you were thinking MI3-4 style, I don't think anyone would see the need.
Though both of them have been sorta remade (as close to that as can be, anyway), by lucasarts in the CD editions... the inventory was converted from written object names to icons, a la "Day of the tentacle". And some more small changes were made I think.

You are of course welcome to give it a try (it's not like we could stop you ) but please consider that 1) TSOMI and MI2 are widely regarded as two of the best adventure games ever, and making changes or even additions to them might not sit well with the fan community; and 2) LucasArts has a history of using legal action to shut down fan projects.
What I'm really trying to say is... make an original game! You know you can do it! Write your own story and see how cool it'll be!

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing something like that. Good luck with it!

Monkey Island is a very popular catagory when it comes to fangames, so to be honest the answer is no unless your extremely talented and could pull it off.
Yet don't give up on game making altogether, make something original. I see you're a bunch of enthusiastic game developers, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

as i said in before in this post i am just starting my own original project along with 3 of my friends, as a matter of fact we're plotting the basic story and stuff right now as i'm writing this so i wouldn't really bother if i didn't start a monkey island fangame, this project will do although it would have been fun to make MI too

yeah CMI and EFMI are both awesome as they could be but it would still be an interesting project and a good practice to get the hang of lucasarts style like i've always wanted to, i'm about half way through that tutorial as is is.. might have it done by tomorrow depending on how much work i'll throw into it :/ and after that i will be taking a background from CMI and try to remake it to see if i'm successful at it
