Golden Raspberries: Female voice "talents"

Even good and popular adventure games can sometimes get crappy voice overs. Sometimes the quality is consistently horrendous throughout the whole game, sometimes the only flaw in it is the voice of that one apparently randomly selected person.
So, here's a list of the voice performances that I think are worthy for a nomination:
(as usual, feel free to propose your own nominees)

I liked Katrina better in QFG4. She definitely made me feel sorry for her.

I think the idea is that she sounded crap in QFG5, so of course she was better in 4.

I nominate Valiance as she annoyed me a lot.

That's what happens when you just vote and don't even read the question first! :lol

Unfortunately, I've yet to encounter Erana or Katrina in QFG5... please don't kill me.

I voted Valanice. Damn little crybaby.

I nominate all the female voices from Flight of the Amazon Queen.

What about April from The Longest Journey?

I can only say, April's original voice is good at least.

April's voice was good. It was some of the other people (like the bartender) that weren't....

What do you mean by April's original voice, Snarky?
Do you speak Norwegian?
Also, it is true that some games that were booed because of bad voice-acting are actually quite good if you play them with original voices or a different translation (in my personal experience - German).

Yes. Yes, I do. (Guess my secret is out.) And thanks for not talking about TLJ as a Finnish game, which I'm getting right sick and tired of hearing.

That's cool, Snarky. I just watched a great Norwegian film a couple of months ago, called "Kitchen Stories". Have you seen it?

Laverne from DOTT never did sound right at all, though she had her moments. Still not good enough, though.

Bad Voice-overs

So this is a list of some of the worst you say? Okay..

I think i had the most trouble with the voices in Monkey Island II... I feel like the voices went south with the bad animation.. (so i didn't like it.. I liked the first one best)

Since I only know what Valanice and Rosella sound like (of all characters listed in the poll) I voted for Valanice. If I remember correctly I liked her voice more (or disliked it less??) than Rosella's.

Having since played The Dagger of Amon Ra, I change my vote to Laura Bow from that. Not that the actress was particularly bad or anything, but the accent ( :eek ) made it almost impossible to play the game with voices.

He no doubt means Curse of Monkey Island (#3), from which my avator is from.

Edit: I actually thought the voices for CoMI were really good. Guybrush, LeChuck and Wally (for instance) were excellent. AND they had Gary Coleman (as lemonade stand kid).

I also have to disagree with the animation being a move downhill. The game is humorous so the animation was appropriate. The graphics in Return to Monkey Island were (in my opinion) a step in the wrong direction.

I don't think that cartoon style graphics are necessarily wrong in adventure game. It just depends on the game. I had no problem with the cartoony style of SQ6 (again because the game [and series] was non serious), but I hated the graphics of KQ7, as I think 5 & 6 had excellent graphic styles. For the same reason, QFG would have been ridiculous with cartoon graphics (not that QFG5's 3d was received well anyway).

Never heard of "Return to Monkey Island". You mean "Escape from Monkey Island"? :|

Oops, that's the one :o

I didn't think it sounded right, but I couldn't think of anything else.

HERE HERE gav I totally agree even though MI is older then i am by 1 year. I played them all the same in the right order however I must admit I never beat 1 and 2 but 3 was excellent because I was 7 it wasn't to easy but not as rediculously hard as the one part of EFMI where you need to get the pegnose pete file. That said I belong to a small comunity of people who think QFG5 graphics were awesome, again here I am 8 years old playing them all in the right order (as much as I could because they started before i was born and 4 never worked right for me and 2 i couldn't stand how slow it was after 1VGA.) I think that the statement of "cartoony graphics in QFG would be inapropriate because it's not a comical game because some of my best laughs outside MI were in QFG sometimes ill tell someone a good QFG death and they'll sit there with this look :| and go WTF are you talkin bout Willis (true story infact i once had the nick name willis so people could say that to me) lol Street pizza.. gets me everytime. Also my eldest Brother pointed this out. Kokkeno Pookameso (SP?) is greek for Red and in star Trek the red suits always die first as did kokkeno is this intentional or coicidential?

Edit: sorry Erpy im real tired and because of my eyes i see double whatever i focus on so when im tired don't expect me to make much sence. Mostly because i think i said something so words are missing. I'm not making excuses I'm just informing sorry again

QFG fan, I'm really making an effort to read through your posts, but the lack paragraphs and readable layout really makes it hard. Could you please try to use a more readable writing style. Divide the post into paragraphs, don't make overly long sentences, use caps and punctuation. That sort of thing. I think every extra minute you spend on writing posts saves the rest of the forum three minutes of reading time.
