Hey, this is my first poll on the AGDI forums. How exciting! Well, maybe not that exciting...

Anyways, the poll question is "How do you foresee the future of Himalaya Studios", i.e. what do you expect the company will look like in, say, 10 years?

I think you need another option:

"It will become so big that it will be bought out by Vivendi and drop adventure games for the more profitable FPS / RTS games." :p

I vote for Gav's option!!

It will probably be big, but AFG will become bigger and more successful!

But Gav, I don't understand your premise. If it becomes so big and profitable and somehow Vivendi is able to convince the AGD's to sell it to them, why would Vivendi then drop its products without reason? Just to eliminate the competition? But even then, the two companies will have been making different kinds of games, so the competition factor isn't so relevant. I could understand if you said that Vivendi will buy HS so that it can make profitable adventure games to suppliment its already bottomless wallet, but why would it buy HS if it were just going to continue making only FPS/RTS games exclusively. HS would have no experience in making those kinds of games, so that just seems counter-intuitive.

Same reason they buy all other companies: to close them down. Less competition.

Honestly would you give your on-line credit card for an adventure game? I dont think so. I wont for sure. I'll just play KQ5 over instead.

I don't understand why not, Rog. I think we've seen enough of the AGD's' commitment to their customers (us) that we can be fairly sure they're not in the business of Identity theft....

I for one wouldn't mind giving them my credit card number to buy one of their games. You are probably less likely to get screwed by Himalaya Studios than by something you bid for on E-Bay, IMHO.

BTW, I was kidding about the 'weasel' remark, don't be offended. ;)

To live in the past is to die in the present, Rog. You can replay KQ5 if you wish, but I'm moving forward. I trust AGDI's abilities to make great games and I'd even go as far as to say maybe outshine Sierra's classics, myself. I'd give them my credit card number for one of their games.....if I had one that is ;).

I may very well buy Al Emmo when it comes out. It looks pretty good. No wonder they were asking for 3d artists

I'll certainly buy their games. I am kinda leery about giving out credit card info on the web, though. I think it's just too easy for someone to intercept it in transit. Maybe they'll accept money orders? :)

I don't think that Adventure games are any more than a niche market now-a-days. To make real money, they'll need to expand into the console market as well.

I'll buy the new game when they release it, if people around here say it's okay.

No. I have purchased products online before. The issue for me is not only security "over the wires" but at the end points too. If my credit card info is stored in a corporate data centre and released only to the agents necessary for billing, I have no problem. The problem is that with many small or new businesses, credit card transactions are often stored on a PC-type computer in a home office before being processed. Remember, physical security is always the first line of defence. All the encryption in the world won't matter if someone can simply break into your basement and steal your computer.

Yeah, we'll also accept money orders as an alternative to credit cards.

Oh, and the company has existed since 2002, so it's already bypassed the two year milestone without succumbing to bankruptcy. :lol

Great. I can't wait to use my brand new credit card again. That is, assuming I don't win the free copy.

PayPal covers only a few countries. There's actually ten time better 'facilities' available than PayPal.
