Thief, because stealing is fun.

Mage is my absolute favorite. I play the game with all of them, though. Mages get staffs and that cool battle with the Faerey Queen in QfGIV. (One of my all-time favorite parts)

Mage is my favourite class, followed closely by Thief and then Paladin. I'm not too keen on the Fighter class.

I'm going to have to go with Paladin for one reason: QFGIV is not only my favorite of the series, but my favorite video game of all time (as I've explained in another thread). As far as I'm concerned because only the paladin can delve into resolve Piotyr's back story, any other class ends up missing a big essential part of the story.

Also, if you really get into the character of the paladin over the course of the series, it really adds a huge new dimension to the Hero/Katrina relationship and his role in redeeming her, only to later codemn her to oblivion... (as a paladin would want nothing more than to redeem Katrina but would realize chose her own fate through her actions, and it's too late for him to change that... at least that was always my justification for picking Erana).

...oh, and even if I do play something else, I always play pure classes, hybrids just never seem to fit in the story right.

I always like to think whichever one the Hero chooses, he eventually goes back to or meets someone from WIT who carried a torch for the other one and tells them how to gain access to Hades.
