You guys do realise, don't you, that the big "Tierra Entertainment" banner at the top of every forum page links directly to the main Tierra page, right? I only have the forums bookmarked but if, for any reason, I need to go to the main page I just click the banner and voilà.

~Wolfgang

In my opinion, this "prank" was by far the most ill-thought PR "stunt" I've ever seen.
I mean, all the while you go around saying how there's no chance in hell of KQ2+ EVER having a voicepack. So, since every LOGICAL person would ASSUME that if Tierra was planning something like that, they would announce it, people who already have KQ2+ would think that Tierra's next project won't be completed for a long while, and wouldn't visit Tierra's site unless they're regular on the forums, which most people aren't.
All these people wouldn't even know the speechpack exist.

I myself wouldn't have known about it, since I've stopped posting at Tierra forums a while ago. Luckily, someone bothered spreading the news to the KQ9 forum
- Thanks Kurt! BTW, I noticed you post here much more than on the KQ9 forum. Aren't we good enough for you? Storm doesn't seem to understand that all of Tierra's success is strictly based on word of mouth. That's the way it has to happen. People like Kurt see the announcement here and go make the announcement on other forums that they visit. The download numbers certainly show that not everybody who downloads the game visits the forums here. Storm just seems to have it out for everybody involved with Tierra because he had a disagreement with Wookie over the story. I say just ignore him. Obviously, he still wants to play the game, or else he wouldn't bother coming here to download it.

"May the way of the hero
lead to the Triforce."

I'll try to adress each of these comments:

Quote:
As far as I remember, nobody had 'real' fun.

April Fool's pranks are known for the fact that it's usually the prankster who has a good time. And I went out of my way to explain things, didn't I? We didn't mean to cause any permanent damage.

Quote:
People like Kurt see the announcement here and go make the announcement on other forums that they visit.

Did everybody already forget about the fact that I asked Kurt to "leak" it there? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

Quote:
disagreement with Wookie over the story

Actually, I believe I was the one who partook in the infamous Caldaur-debate. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/grin.gif ALT=" >D">

Quote:
Let us shun him.

He is a she. But that's irrelevant in this case.

Quote:
In my opinion, whoever thought up this "prank" had to be incredibly stupid. This is by far the most incompetent, ill-thought PR "stunt" I've ever seen.

Sigh. Okay. Let's first say that us mentioning there won't be a voicepack was in the best interest of both parties. The fanbase wouldn't have had to wait a couple of months feeling anxious and we could take all the time we needed to complete the whole thing without rushing. If we would have announced it, we might have spent a lot more time answering all kinds of questions about the voicepack and now we were able to concentrate completely on the voicepack itself, so the fanbase actually gets the voicepack SOONER in this case. The news HAS been spread across a few forums, so plenty of people know about it. The voicepack has been out for 6 days and already 2339 people downloaded it. I think the number will keep rising steadily. The voicepack has been in the news at Adventuregamers.com, I'm 100% sure that it'll be included in the upcoming Inventory (which a lot of Just Adventure-visitors read), it's been on Adventure-treff.de and I had it announced on the AGS,JA,AG and KQ9-forums. So don't worry about our PR. It worked out just fine.

I don't mind if not the entire fanbase knows about it at once since it means the mirrors don't get killed as the tidal wave of downloaders crashes into them. If somebody finds out about it after a month, will that make the experience less enjoyable? I think not. People who enjoyed the game WILL check on Tierra every once in a while since we didn't give release dates for our future projects.

About our prank: reactions have been very positive and most people thought it was pretty original.

Quote:
I myself wouldn't have known about it, since I've stopped posting at Tierra forums a while ago. Luckily, someone bothered spreading the news to the KQ9 forum
- Thanks Kurt!

Make that "Thanks Erpy!" (credit's done when credit's due, right?) If you read my explanation carefully, you would have known that I mailed a few people to "leak" the (reversed prank) announcement on other forums.

Quote:
BTW, I noticed you post here much more than on the KQ9 forum. Aren't we good enough for you? How about some loyalty?

I missed the smiley here. First of all: Not everybody on a team actually posts in the visitor forums of the project. AGD3 didn't and neither did the scripter of SQ2VGA while it was still running. Second of all, Kurt was already an active member of the Tierra forums BEFORE he joined the KQ9-team as a plot writer. So what exactly is your problem?

Quote:
Don't bother answering this one, I probably won't be around to read the reply anyway.

That's what they all say. I came to know this one as the mother of all broken promises. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

Now, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you just expressed your opinion with poorly chosen words, rather than having any intent to flame us. But your post came across to me as unnecessarily harsh and agressive. I'd like to ask you to temper the tone in future posts. It wasn't about the credit, Anathoth. You accidently suggested that Kurt simply came to this forum, read the prank-thread, instantly believed it despite the announcement date (that alone looks pretty weird on Kurt <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"> ) and decided to tell the KQ9-forum about it.

Seeing that Storm seemed to think that "her" forum wouldn't have known about the whole thing if Kurt didn't accidently visit our forum and spread the news: the whole thing was a bit more organized than that.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...

Ah, all is understood now. I didn't mean to imply that Kurt was foolish to believe it either. At any rate, I personally believe it was a rather brilliant joke and I only wish that I had been here to see it playing out over the course of the day, rather than reading about it later.

"May the way of the hero
lead to the Triforce."

It's too bad you feel this way, Storm. I actually had noticed that you quit posting. You and a few of the old regulars seem to be dissappearing. Don't know why. Things are just as lively and exciting here as they ever were. If you have hard feelings against Tierra, I'm sorry about that too. Tierra, as I see it, is a great little company. They have very dedicated workers and they are doing great things towards bringing back the adventure game genre. Maybe you could put your hard feelings aside, and come back to a great community.

"Without the fleet, the contest would be on our home grounds, and war is one contest in which it is best to be on the visiting team." -ADM Nimitz
