The Story behind Milan Easton

#1 Post by Milan Easton » Fri Apr 18, 2003 2:31 pm

The name Milan Easton is indeed an invented one. In high school, many a year ago, I decided it would be cool to have a pen name, and thought it would be yet cooler to have one that was "adventurous" or geographic in nature, since one of my favorite subjects and pasttimes was learning about physical and cultural geography.

So, anyhow, I opened up our old family tree book and looked for anscestors with neat names. I think I found someone with the last name Weston or something similar...and decided to change it to Easton (for the cardinal direction). I decided that would be a suitable last name.

I then noticed the name florette, and threw that in as a middle name, since it just sounded unique and a bit dated to me.

Milan did come from the Italian city...and the fact that I really liked cafe Milano icecream and ate it nearly every day. I think it might have been in the family tree book as well.

So there you have it--Milan Florette Easton. Imagine the surprise of my mom, and the complete giddy satisfaction of myself, when I started receiving junk mail on a regular basis to: Milan Florette Easton. My mom must have thought I was so wierd...

Anonymous Game Developer #1

Don't worry, I told people my name was Hogarth Henderson. I thought that was a cool name so I registered my name alot using those as the First Name and Last Name. Not the username, that would be just silly.

My real name is to do with my nickname. I had Kurt Rayner as my pen name for a long long time. I took Kurt from a musician I really liked and Rayner from a comic book character that was my personal favorite of mine. However, I started to not like the name at all, so I ditched it. I'm still on the hunt for a new one. However, since I had already made a name for myself in the community as Kurt, it's sort of stuck with me. The KQ9 people don't know whether to call me Cris or Kurt or what. Some even think they're two separate people! Heheh. Oh well. I think I might just use my real name. It's cool enough as it is, IMO.
-----------------------
Cris Skelton
Newsletter and Plot Writer
Kings Quest IX: Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining

<img src="http://www.sighost.us/members/thelongwa ...

"I made a promise on the grave of my parents to rid this city of the evil that took their lives. I was right. You got Milan after the city. YIPPEE!
The orgin of my username is, wellllllll...... wierd.
I was watching the KQ1VGA intro, and the line, "You are Sir Graham, the finest knight in all the kingdom."
I thought it would be cool to have knight my username. But I couldn't think of any good names to go after Sir or knight. So I thought, what if I was The Knight, meaning the best knight around. And it grew on me and well..... The rest is Tierra history.
The Knight

Yes, Shining Force was on of the best RPG's out there. But Quest for glory is slightly better. I remember I would name all the characters. And it took me over ten minutes to come up with them.
The Knight

Millan just tell me the truth. What are you really afraid of if you reveal you real name? I mean you got my 100% trust on you and from your fans too. I have being helping you team translate the game in Icelandic and I have already reveal my name without being afraid of be sued by lawyears and yes even Erpy has reveal his and we have both reveal pictures of us. Do you know why. I think Sierra does not care anymore about this old classic games. You should have bougthed the Sierra copyright in the first place so you should not be afraid anymore and living like this "feeling you are in danger". You should make people to trust you more so you can make more donation for yourself. So you see it is really getting to be strange to all of us that you would not be reconized ever here. And this has being going on in more than 4 years now right? Where is your proud AGD1 AGD2? I mean get over this hidings games. We will like you in any situations you will get yourself in. I mean don´t you trust us? Just knock this silly secrets away and come out of the closet or coffin or whatever you are hiding yourself from. I challange both you to change your habbits and reveal yourself to the fans of yours. And I can sense you want that too. You revealed yourself in kq2 in a cartoon style and your voice but when are we getting to see the real you? I think you both owed that to everyone here. Just try to give us something we have always wanted to see here. Picture of You! Btw if you are going to do that well it does not matter what age you are on that picture. Thanks! I hope I have filled you of some courage now! Somebody like me had to push on you anyway. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Happy Easter everyone!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... ms>Erpy at: 4/23/03 4:28:42 am

Well, my name's in my sig; it's no secret.

"etherlad" came about because I'm a fan of the Sons of Ether from White Wolf's Mage RPG (pen-and-paper, not computer). I'm also a fan of the pulp genre. The Sons of Ether are usually referred to as "etherites."

So one day, many years ago, I was using iname.com (which became mail.com) for a forwarding address. I was updating my account - I had to, cause they changed their TOS - and considered getting a different address than my old one. And I noticed that mail.com now owned mad.scientist.com. That was, of course, perfect.

However, someone already beat me to the punch to register etherite@mad.scientist.com.

So I sat and pondered some variation on the theme... what would my name be if I were an etherite, but more pulp-oriented? Like the trusty sidekick to an adventurer?

So I settled on etherlad.

The etherlad@mad.scientist.com address has long since been abandoned, but the name lives on. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
_______________
Ian Watson
WolfSpoor

My second name is Broome and one day at school one of my friends said, Alright Broomie, and I liked the sound of that so now everyone at school calls me it, they address me as Broomie all the time. Even the teachers bellow BROOMIE across the classroom when I'm not paying attention. It's pretty cool for teachers to call me Broomie aswell. But I'm called Jamie by my family and some friends.

I think being anonymous is still important for Tierra.. it's something I haven't seen other places.. the purpose is clear.. to direct all attention not, on the designers of the games.. but on the Games themselves. Let the games speak for themselves. A game from Tierra means true adventure at its finest.. and if the people behind the product are becoming famous, they won't be able to help feeling that 'star' craze - which will wrongly distract them from Tierra's purpose. They're anonymous because they want the attention on the games, not themselves. Makes sense to me!

That's not entirely true. Being anonymous oftentimes draws more attention to you. An almost automatic reaction to seeing something you absolutely love is to want to see who created it, and if those people are anonymous, it's almost considered by some people a challenge to find out who they are. Look at all the debate on here as to who they are. It's a small, underlying theme to the whole thing. If you want to relate it to bigger terms, religion is based off of this philosophy as well. All these people see the beautiful creation that is the world, and they want to know who made it, how it happened. Why not just bask in the fact that it's here and it's beautiful and it's wonderful? That's just not enough. We have to know who or what put it here and why they did.
-----------------------
Cris Skelton
Newsletter and Plot Writer
Kings Quest IX: Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining

<img src="http://www.sighost.us/members/thelongwa ...

"I made a promise on the grave of my parents to rid this city of the evil that took their lives. ooooh well said kurt-Batman-kingGraham-dude (sorry Icouldn't resist). You are so right. I wouldn't mind seeing Milian Easton in the credits of KQ 1 3.0 the next version of KQ2 and what ever else they make even if that isn't her real name. My grandmother watched the opening scenes to KQ2VGA and got really confused with AGC1 this AGC2 that AGC1 this and that. Oh well for her... she wanted to know why they are Anomous. She didn't care who they were just why...
DeLamon DeLamon Interactive: Exploring The World One Game At A Time.

Current Project: Masters In Quest I: The Treasure of Gealmia and Laura Bow III
