3D Modeller/Animator Sought for Classic Adventure

#1 Post by Milan Easton » Sun Nov 16, 2003 2:25 pm

Wanted: 3D modeler with solid animation skills to join our fun and motivated team! Your task--create semi-realistic, semi-cartoon style pre-rendered character models based on 2D concepts. 3D studio Max is the program of choice, but proficiency in another 3D package is also acceptable. Texturing skills would be a definite plus. Traditional art technique would be nice, but is not absolutely necessary. Strong work ethic is a must, as well as the ability to communicate and be a team player. The ideal candidate should have a passion for classic adventure games and be driven by challenges and success.

Finally, we guarantee that this project will be completed . It will also provide an excellent opportunity to work alongside our development team and get your work seen by many people.

If you're interested, email us at kqvga@hotmail.com
Providing a link to a webpage or some still renders of characters would be handy.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Tierra Team
www.tierragames.com

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... ston>Milan Easton at: 11/16/03 8:30 am

Couldn't Relight do this? His 3D intro through Kolyma was so damn cool, what did he say about it? (you must have contacted him about it firstly) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

But this looks really exciting! No, this position is specifically for a 3D-animator, rather than a 3D-artist. Relight mentioned once that modelling characters aren't his forté.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

I've had some luck modelling characters.

For instance, a jester with a colorful suit. Then I used a video I made of a clown face for his face so he looked like he was looking around.

What type of character should we make to show our skillz? My clown files are gone. Thanks!

Just to emphasize the seriousness of the position and by way of doing so, try to answer your questions Jodo.

"3D modeler with solid animation skills" = sounds like more experience needed than your clown.

"Strong work ethic is a must" = be able to spend significant time on this.

"Providing a link to a webpage or some still renders" = already have work completed, not take time to make some.

I'm not applying for the position, but it makes me fairly curious as to what game the future modeller/animator will be working on. I have a rough guess as to what it could be for, but I'll keep my mouth shut for the time-being. Although, I suspect it's for a work that's currently in progress...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Why do I think this is for another game besides QFG2VGA. And the game WILL be completed. For some reason I'm leaning towards KQ3VGA. Then again, I could be wrong. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
The Knight

"I see in your eyes, the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of men fails.
When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship but it is not this day.
This day we fight!"

Since there was no mention of a contract or anything I guess this is for another fan game??? If it was an original game that was going to be released commercially, I would have applied. I'd like to request to reserve this thread for questions regarding the application in particular, rather than rumors/speculations.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...

And speaking of that thread did you remove it by any chance?
----------
Tierra Game Central
The First Fansite for Tierra Entertainment, so I've heard...

Yeah, I did. The thread was drawing a lot more attention to the whole thing than we wanted it to have.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...

If anyone is interested, we still have a position available for a 3D modeller/animator.

3D Animator

Thinking about this seriously...

Where will the job be based? ( Geographically )
Or will it be working solely online / post?

How many hours per week will you expect? Hey Grundy, most of the work would be done online from the comfort of wherever the modeller/animator lives in the world. It would be conducted via forums.

The hours per week would vary, and are very flexible. We'd base these on a the individual's current lifestyle to figure out something reasonable. A steady workflow would be required, though.

We're seeking both modellers and animators. Skills in modelling are what we're primarily interested in for now, but animation will become our main concern later in the process. We already have a couple of people working in both departments, but we're on the lookout for more.

If you want any more info, feel free send an email to kqvga@hotmail.com

Thanks!

3D Modellers

#17 Post by Charlemagne » Sat Apr 10, 2004 4:48 pm

I've recently been poking around in the Morrowind modding community and there seems to be quite a large pool of talented 3D modellers, animators and texturers creating plug-ins for the game. I've even seen a few professionals. Maybe someone over there would be interested.

I once emailed someone I knew off a community who was great at 3D modelling, I gave her an email but alas she never replied. Maybe it was a false one, but I will never know. :(

Hey, Charlemagne... sounds interesting! Got a URL?

And thanks for pitching in, Broomie! You know, I think we're actually good with modellers for now. Well, another animator (3DS Max, Lightwave, or Maya) might be nice, but I think we've got enough dedicated people for the task ATM.

For starters, you might want to check out the PsychoDog Studios forums. They've created two of the most impressive Morrowind mods: Better Bodies (a complete re-modelling and re-texturing of the NPCs' bodies) and Better Heads (same thing, but with the heads). If you check around, though, you'll find that there's always someone working on a new character, monster, suit of armour, city (!), etc. Here are some modding forum links:

Another position is now open for a 3D modeller and/or animator.

Modeller should have skills in any of the following packages:
3DS Max, Maya, or Lightwave

Animator should have skills in any of the following packages:
3DS Max or Lightwave

The project is moving deeper into development stage now and we're seeking dedicated people to help us bring it to completion. It also provides a good opportunity to gain some professional credit for your work. Please note: this is not for a fan project nor an AGDI game. Anyone interested in the position as a student internship may also apply.

More info available upon request.

I am not a good 3D modeler but I have been trying the trial version of this wonderful 3D software.

You should all try it out.
