Tierra changes name

#1 Post by Erpy » Wed Dec 10, 2003 3:06 pm

Would everybody who saw this one coming please stand up and raise his hand?

(no raised hands are visible)

Right...

As you can see, Tierra has decided to do a name change. After bearing our former name for over two years, we've decided to adopt a new name and continue as AGD Interactive. Is the changed name permanent? Yes, most likely so, unless we get an angry mail from someone using the same name within the next few days. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

We've been discussing this thing behind the scenes for quite a while, but this morning, Relight, the AGD's and me have been tossing chat-sessions and phone calls back and forth in order to have the change occur as quickly as possible. (although Relight or I may still tweak certain things if needed)

Consider the change a prelude to a very exciting year to come.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashn ...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... py>Erpy at: 12/10/03 9:10 am

Again, I love these new forum colours. Excellent! Blue is my favourite colour <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> . And interesting name. I like it.

But what will become of the Tierra animation? Are you going to make another one? Are you keeping the earth logo? Or are you making a new one for that, too? Or are you simply keepinng it AGDI and no logo? I don't suppose there will be any new music for it, though. Or maybe something like what Sierra did, you could keep the same music but change it a bit. Sierra always had many different variations of they're signature theme. The later games it was usually a lot quicker than the original, though.

...why am I rambling on about this?

Anyways, again awesome stuff, guys.

"Requires MCGA, CGA, VGA, PGA, or TA-RA-RA-BOOMGA!!" -Gary Owens, SQ4
Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... nspired at: 12/10/03 1:18 pm

We're still discussing whether to take a new logo for use in the current games. Development of KQ1 and KQ2 was supposed to be officially discontinued and recompiling both games will take time... We'll decide on it later.

DVD covers will be edited though.

We're not sure about a new theme tune either. We discussed it but haven't made a decision yet.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashh ...

I love it! I remember making a post a while back about the colors of the forums (complaining). Don't worry about that. We renewed our tierraentertainment-domain only recently, before we decided on a new name. People will have nearly a year to alter their bookmarks. Until the tierraentertainment-domain expires, it'll redirect visitors. We still have to start the process of moving all the content from one server to the next.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashl ...

A detailed explanation of the "why's" regarding the name change are found on AGD Interactive's home page. I like to think of this as growth, and the beginning of new and exciting avenues for the AGD's and the entire AGDI team.

Don't forget Tierras entrys in the games database on the AGS website. You will need to update the game author tag.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Maybe, maybe not. The King's Quest games technically were made by Tierra Entertainment. The fact that AGDI includes all the same people doesn't change that. I think you should leave the Tierra logo in the games, perhaps adding an AGDI screen in there too, just to alleviate confusion.

Well, I guess it's good timing that the name change happened now. This way, when I move hosting companies soon, Broomie can get a new site address to match the new name. Still looking, but I've narrowed it down to about 4, but none fit all my criteria, each lacks about one thing I want, so I have to decide which thing I can "afford" to lose.

I see. You're really trying to follow Sierra.
Firstm you had a take off of their name. Now a name change, like Sierra from the awesome Sierra On-Line Inc, to the bland Sierra Entertainment Inc. Maybe next you'll change your reason for making games and change your opinion on adventure games.

This name change doesn't effect Himalaya Studios in any way. Himalaya studios is a separate entity, one which also employs some talented folks.

-------

hmmm....last time I noticed, I had over 1500 posts. Then to ask a similar question...what's the deal with Himilaya Studios? The last update I saw was over a year and a half ago.
