The ring and the cloak

#1 Post by Whitney » Fri Nov 12, 2004 4:54 pm

Sorry, probably another stupid question because I am missing something. I gave grandma the soup and she ate it, but I can't seem to get the cloak or the ring... I can't see it either. Please help?? :cry

Thanks.

Talk to her again after giving her the soup. That should prompt a "cinema' scene explaining her late husband's death. At the end of that, you'll automatically get the cloak and ring from her. Remeber to try everything before giving up and running to the forums for help. It's much more satisfying when you figure it out on your own. ;)

If you've already tried that and it still doesn't work, then I'm assuming there's some kind of bug or your save file got corrupted.

Yeah I tried talking to her and it didn't work... I'll try again though and if it doesn't work... I hope I don't have a bug. :\

Huh.... strange. Try loading a previous save game and doing some of it over.

PS: Are you sure she took the soup? You have to heat it on the cottage hearth before she'll accept it. Just checking.

Yeah I heated it, she ate it, but I tried talking to her again (after you told me to) and it worked. I swear I spent like half an hour trying to talk to her before I came to the forum, but it didn't work. It worked now though.... thanks for your help - sorry if I have been a bother.

No problem, everyone is willing to help out here. (Not to mention it gives me an excuse to raise my post count!) I'd have also been desperately grasping for all the help I could get if what you described had happened to me when first playing the game. Hope you enjoy the rest of it, though I can't think of any explanation for that little anomoly you encountered.

j/k = Just Kidding, sheesh!

The Hero wrote:NO there worse people,LIKE ME.
LoL
Now, I assumed that your statement meant the following: "No, there are worse people. Like me, LoL!" And with that interpretation in mind, I figured you were engaging in a little light-hearted self-deprecation. Was I wrong? I was simply making a similarly light-hearted reciprocation to your little joke (or what I thought was a joke) when I said "Yup, you're the worst Hero". I did quite clearly write "j/k, of course" as a post-script, and I thought that my use of the smiley " :evil " was a clear enough indication that the joke wasn't meant to be at your expense.

PS: If I did misinterpret your comment, perhaps you now understand a little better why grammar is the writer's best friend?

I'm sure you did, Uhaniwhatsit, but you just don't remember. You can't get past that part without seeing it. Her husband is the late Count Caldaur, so he didn't completely die, he just became an undead vampire from the bat bite he received, remember? Play through the game again and I'm sure you'll remember the scene.

Maybe you inadvertantly skipped through it?
