Hello.
Please forgive any rashness on my part for posting this in an unrelated forum, but I'm on a mission to get the word out about this DVD. And it's not entirely unrelated anyhow, what with everyone's love for awesome sci fi/fantasy story telling and compassion for a story that ended before it's time.
I am talking about the first season of a show called Gargoyles that came out ten years ago and was unduly cancelled after 3 seasons. Twas a beautifully animated series from (and please, please don't judge it for this, it's quite unrelated to their usual caliber of show) Disney. It incorporated a wide range of worldwide myths, cultures and literature to tell a dramatic/comedic/character driven/dark gothic story. It deals with (obviously) living gargoyles and their relationship with humans in the present day and in the dark ages.
Then there's the great music, sharp dialogue, simple hilarious ironies, an extensive cast of veteran voice actors(including many famous star trek actors as the proncipal cast), Keith David, blends of science and sorcery, secret societies, hidden agendas, fraternal bonds Shakespearean characters (literally), themes of racism/prejudice/genocide, betrayal, interspecies love, the old way vs. the new, trust, dangerous assumptions, lethargy, responsibility, deep self deception and characters so complex you could cut yourself on them. There's more but MS word was telling me my sentence was too long.
For more information (though heavy with spoilers) you can read about the plot:

If this sells well, it could lead to the second season coming out to DVD as well. If it sells really well, it could hopefully lead to a continuation of the story of some sort, more of the same show or one of the spin offs that the creator has had in mind. It's happened before with DVD sales, see Family guy, Farscape and Firefly as prime examples, not to mention the old adventure shows of the 80's and 90's being redone with a new look. So us long term fans have a lot riding on this release, to say the least.
So if any of you were intrigued by my pitch, or remember the show fondly as a youngling (trust these memories), or know someone else (kids, teens, middle aged nerds/scholars) this would appeal to, then the best time to buy is tomorrow, December 7th, when it is released. Although within the next month, or even any time at all is great as well, it's hard to beat a strong release day.
Now make the right choice, and take care.
Lord Sloth.

THREAD HIJACK WARNING!
Listen folks, As a Fellow Garg Fan, GO BUY THE DVD! It's a GREAT series.
As the Previous Poster said, it's got a LOT of things in it fellow Sierra gamers out there would enjoy in it. It's has SO much appeal in it, there's literally something for everyone in there. I'm VERY picky about what shows I like, and this has got to be one of the top 5, if not THE #1 fave show on my list.
If you've never seen it before, I'd highly recommend looking into learning more about it. I got sucked into it on accident, and I immediately fell in love with it. Even if you don't ending up liking it, it's at least worth the look!
Now I gotta go pimp the DVD to all my friends. :)

Bad part of the show
That would be the third season, aka The Goliath Chronicles, when control was hijacked from Greg Weisman. It was pitiable, really.Jafar wrote:At some point, the show got less cool though.
