Reaching into the future. Abscence Makes the Heart go Yonder

#1 Post by EndymionMMX » Sun Jan 02, 2005 9:54 am

This is my greeting to you all as a new member of this forum.  Just a glitter of a hope that a remake of KQ5 will be produced in the near future.  I simply can't wait to hear what will be done with the soundtrack, Crispin's theme music being my favorite piece.  I had once had the liberty of hearing it played by a violinist and pianist.  It's been long since I've lost that mp3.  Does anyone else share my interest and love for this classic KQ adventure?

I love KQ5 it being the first adventure game and KQ game I played!!

But there will be no remake as it doesnt need remaking, its already in VGA and even has a CD version with voices.

Noone is going to remake a game just because of a few bugs or dead ends, it just isnt worth it.

Same as Angelus here, big fan of the game being the first KQ I ever played. Not ever going to receive a remake though.

It always cracks me up when I hear people suggest a remake of an already VGA title.  It's not EASY to produce a remake of a Sierra Game in AGS.  It's not like you pop in a few things and BAM insta-game!  KQ5 is already in VGA color, with a CD voice version.  It's just not going to get entirely reproduced.

I too, however, love King's Quest V.

Like most of the people already posted, KQ5 was the first KQ game I had ever played. It wasn't on the computer tho, it was on the NES.

It was a great game, and I loved every minute of it. Wish I could still buy it for the PC.

In a word: eBay.

I'd consider looking for one of the Collection editions with all the games if you're missing more than just the fifth one.

I know I could probably get it off of eBay...

But I don't really trust eBayers. :\

I've gotten 3 or 4 things off of ebay with no problem at all including an MT-32 Midi module and Star Trek A Final Unity PC CDROM. Besides the ones that try to auction off their house or a piece of carrot or something, everyone's pretty ok on there.

You could always remake KQ5 into current graphics if someone would take on the task...awful big undertaking, that would be.

OMF, this is really getting silly, I count about 5 topics about a KQ5 remake. KQ5 is already amazing what more can you do to it? colour the cursors and thats about it.  :lol

Actually, you can't even do that. The CD version already has colored cursors. ;)

Haha, I got A Final Unity on eBay too! Got two sealed copies of the collector's edition actually, on one of them, the person who sold it to me was someone who actually worked on the game, and I got limited edition # 00028. :) I had been waiting forever to play that game. I still couldn't get to the end though, it always crashed in one spot.

Anyway, about KQ5... I can't say for positive, but I think it was my first King's Quest game as well.

For me too, KQ5 was the first KQ game I've played.

Alas, it refuses to run in Windows XP, even with using VDMSound and every other trick I know. All other KQ games I can get to run, but not this one. Truly a shame.

[in fact, it runs fine until a new soundeffect is played, when it keeps hanging on the sound, completely locking the system up. Which is as soon as I talk to someone or do any other action.]

So, uh, if anyone has gotten it working, let me know!  :o
