Frame rate in Dos Box

#1 Post by Alias » Sat Dec 25, 2004 3:12 pm

I wanted to know how do you change the frame rate in DosBox? I'm playing one must fall, even though I put the speed to full it is still very slow.

Thanks,
-Rog

Press ctrl-F12 a few times to raise the speed. Ctrl-F8 raises the frameskip.

You can put it in full-screen by pressing alt-enter.

Does anybody know how to improve the music quality in QFG 1-4 using DosBox, the music is very jerky.  :(

You need to modify the dosbox.conf file to improve that. Open it in Notepad (there should be a shortcut in the Start Menu), and find the [mixer] section. Play around with the values of blocksize and prebuffer a bit - the smaller those values are, the less lag there will be, but you're more likely to get stuttering sounds.

For me, these values work very well:

Code: Select all

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=44100
blocksize=4096
prebuffer=10
If your computer has trouble running everything at an adequate speed with those settings, try setting rate to 22050 and blocksize to 2048. While the sound will be of a slightly worse quality, it's hardly noticeable at all.
