As much as I love reading journals as well, these guys are the only ones that actually post real news on a somewhat regular basis.  I mean look at Hero6.  Its only been in the past month or so that they actually started putting out news again and they are supposed to be the biggest and grandest game out there.  I'm sure the guys are working hard on it.  Maybe there's just nothing to report on, other than they're working on it and when they have something to say, then they'll say it.  This is a game unlike probably every other fangame out there that will actually get completed.  When it gets done, it gets done.  Them telling us about the progress is not going to get it done any faster.

Actually, that's been going on for months now.

Most of the stuff the designer journals are about is stuff you can see in the developers forum. (i.e graphical stuff and music) Those departments are pretty much rounded up, which makes coming up with new bits to write slightly harder.

I agree to the part about AGDI being the most up to date site for sierra fan games, unlike other projects.

(Won't give names because I really dont want to start a flame war)

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this, but the pre-alpha stage is one of the less exciting phases of a project. The funnest part is the beginning and middle of the development process. Lots of backgrounds, sprites, dialogue pics and tunes are being created and inserting them into the game and seeing this game come alive is both stimulating and exciting. The more "dull" phase is the current one. Visual stuff is all but completed and the main part of the work is done by the scripting department. It mostly involves tweaking code to get stuff in the game to work better and it's pretty hard to write a journal about. (because it's not an exciting process to begin with)

I always mentioned (believed, supposed, suggested) it's not hard to express every clear thought as vell as it concerns every part of human actions from scientist to express his idea about quantum mechanics to janitor to express his idea about garbage structure (By the way, - hint on Space Quest 2 EGA - it was yours beginning of remaking old Sierra's quests - it should be the good finalling step !!!).

You could read a book if you want to know "stuff".

I don't really care if they don't give us information on what they are up to every time, It would be better if they spend their time in finishing QFG2!  ;)

But more seriously, a lot of other fan projects on the internet don't give too much information about their games, I think they have given us a lot of information.

Then why not just say that? That all (or as good as all) content has been added, and you're now working on tweaking the code? Just a little "yup, still alive, still working on it" message would go a long way to relieve the concerns of fans who don't visit the forums.

Regular (i.e. at least montly) updates are arguably just as important as substantive updates.

Folks, I've been waiting for this game for more than three and a half years, and I can bear to wait about a month or three for it to be completed. I was a freshman in college who was 'early starting' at a summer semister n July/August 2001 when I heard of AGDinteractive (then Tierra games), and I was very excited about the prospect of an updated QFG 2. Somewhere around in December 2001, I emailed the folks over at the website to ask them how long it would take to complete, and they gave me that 'maybe 6 months, a year or two years thing', and I took it all very well, and I never once complained about it.

I did wonder why there were no journal entries, but after reading Erpy's statement about the pre-Alpha and Alpha phases to be the least exciting with nothing to report other than 'we're done' at the end of it, I guess I can wait for the big news that QFG 2 is hot and ready to be served!!!

Till next time stay cool  :smokin
