Our entire game CD collections

#1 Post by MusicallyInspired » Wed May 18, 2005 5:11 am

This thread will probably only be for the people who don't mind taking a lot of time to catalogue every single cd game they've ever gotten a hold of. I know we did a thread somewhere here (or maybe it was another forum) about all the Sierra games we own, but I'd just like to take it a step further (a big step!) and list everything I own, if only to show off or engage in contest with another collector :D.

Well... the only 2 Sierra games I've bought:

QfG5
KQ-MOE (Haven't even played MOE.)

And then games like

Wing Commander III
Dark Sun II

Ok, and a few other games. As for the list on MI's post... uhm... I've played 'tested' someone else's game. Just to see whether there were problems.  :p

Bought, trying using a spell check or something. Seriously. Simple words.

Mine are all bought. I do a lot of garage sales and second hand shops for the older stuff.

Some of my cds are not in my apartment now, so I cannot really make a list. Next time, perhaps.

How about "trying" to be a little nicer next time?

Actually, that wasn't a spelling error, it was a gramatical error. So for that, my apologies. And it's not a word, it's every post he makes. It bothers me sometimes. And it's not like it was a latin medical word or anything.

I think it should be emphasized. It's not that any of us has any problem with spelling errors or grammar errors (even Erpy had several grammar errors :p). It's just that you expect a certain level of writing, but frankly, some, like Alias here, fail to achieve it, although being old enough. As you would expect people to know how to spell “hello”, you would expect them to know how to spell simple words like “bought”. It is expected, on most boards.

Here is a partial list (bought):

Wing Commander 1-4
King's Quest 1-8
Quest for Glory 5
Hitman 1-3
Heroes of Might and magic 1,2 (Missing 3)
Max Payne 1,2
Zlatagorye (Golden Valley)
Half life 1, Opposing Force, Blue Shift
Doom II
Heretic 1, 2
Star Trek Voyager - Elite Force
Civilization 2, Civilization On Line
Halo 1
Command and Conquer Renegade
KKND 1
The 7th Guest
Simon the Sorcerer 1, 2, 3D
Warcraft 1-3, The Frozen Throne, (Warcraft 1 was bought in the USA :))
Broken Sword (Courtesy of VampD3 and Angelus 3K :))
Full Throttle 1
Day of the Tentacle
Master of Dimensions
Myth 1-3,
Gothic 1
Thief 1,2
Phantasmagoria 1
Diablo 1
Lords of Everquest
Stronghold 1
Bud Tucker in Double Trouble
Master of Magic (A true classic)
Unreal 1
Freespace 2
Sim City
Zoo Tycoon
Blood 1,2
Splinter Cell
No One Lives Forever 2
Red Faction 1
Galactic Civilizations
Starcraft
Torin's Passage
Sam & Max
Escape Velocity: Nova
Hexen 1, 2
Space Hulk

I see... So English is someone's third language, and they can't spell 'bought', then they should choose between being insulted and leaving the boards because they can't spell well enough for them? I think you just invented a new type of prejudice: spellism. And bought is actually a very difficult word as it is one of those that follows weird rules, including many silent letters. Think about it. An English speaking person that is good at English might be able to spell it, but other people mightn't know all the rules to spell a word that sounds like 'bort' in that way. Especially when other rules let completely different letters make the same sounds.

Let's see... What rhymes with bought?

Bought
Caught
Sort
Sought
Aught
Ought

Tell me... When the English language has so many different ways of spelling out the same sound, do you really expect people to get them right all the time? I remember when I was first learning to spell I had trouble with those sorts of words. They aren't easy. Considering they make exactly the same sound, and are only one letter different, I don't see 'baught' as being that big a mistake.

I bought and played KQ8.

As a matter of fact, I bought it twice, as I had lost the first copy. The second one was cheap, though.

When I had the first copy, I didn't finish the game. Its requirements were too high for my machine, and there was a bug in the second world, which I couldn't pass. The teleports might become inactive (if you don't have the patch).

The second time I bought it, I had my current machine and I downloaded the patch, so I had no problems playing it. It was a great adventure game.

I have MoE, and I love it all, even though it starts off really slow until you finish the realm of death part then the adventure/fun starts.  :D

I own one game, and that's Sopwith.  It was pirated.  Sorry, Mr. Clark, but I've owned the disk since 1987.

That's it.

Oh, I also used to own Loom, but I ate it in a fit of anger and hunger one morning.  Damn Bobbin and his songs.

So is the list supposed to be current holdings or any game we've ever owned even if we don't any more?

<notices looks of shock>

What?  Occasionally, even I must part with games...

Well as soon I finish with downloading enough games my 3rd Cd Collection is going to have KQ1VGA, KQ2VGA, a bunch of other AGS-made games (yes I know you can't run AGS games off a cd, just using them as backups) and if it comes out soon enough, QFG2VGA. Fun little hobby with the stuff that isn't put on a cd by companies.
