Board Animosity

#1 Post by Blackthorne519 » Sun May 29, 2005 10:11 pm

I've been detecting some board animosity lately; it's lame.  It shouldn't happen.  If people have a problem with something, they should PM the person in question, and try not to have a public dispute about it.  It'll save egos and mis-interpretations.

We all have the common ground here in that we like Sierra games.  That's enough of a ground to stand on to reason with each other.

Hmm, I haven't been around for a few weeks so I haven't noticed any animosity, but I hope whatever animosity exists can be resolved. I really like the posting here and the discussions they provoke. Of course, I don't always agree with other members opinions or beliefs but I never belittle them for it. BT's suggestion is a very good idea.

I think we're all just bored with nothing new to talk about.

Does one instance count as board animosity? (Or were there more? ) :)

It's called life.  People have disagreements.  If we didn't, to put it bluntly, the world would suck.  So discussions get heated.  It happens.  If we all PMed each other about every little thing rather than posting it, then there wouldn't be much posting going on, would there?

If someone has a problem with somone specifically, then yeah, I agree PMs are the way to go.  But when you want more than one person to hear what you think, then it's just so much easier to let everyone see it.

We can't ALL hide behind the shadow of a PM.  So some things we say and hear may be a little hurtful or embarassing and whatnot.  That happens too.

And if something someone says publicly goes over the line, thats what we have mods for, to tell us to knock it off and delete/lock the topic if need be.

Pushing and shoving

#12 Post by Brainiac » Mon May 30, 2005 6:17 pm

I think both Blackthorne and TakariFreak are right.  Disagreements and misunderstandings are inevitable.  However, that doesn't mean people should be unwilling to let others know they been offended or try to work things out; it makes life so much more pleasant.

Personally, I always try to talk things out with people I hurt or offend, whether in cyberspace or IRL, but I learned a long time ago that some people are just too stubborn or too hinged on placing only the bad on someone that resolution is impossible.  It's unfortunate, but true.

In any case, here's hoping things can mellow out. <toasts the forums>

The world doesn't suck. Some parts are good some are bad. Just depends on what you're focusing on.

Yeah, I mean take Winnipeg for example.  It's great for most of the year, just kinda sucks in the winter when it goes below -30*C   ;)   (Pardon my sarcasm)

You know it's just a little too cold when you need a heater block for your car battery.
