i know i just read the recent journal and i am so TOTALLY jealous that the group met with the creators of the game. If i was there with the i would most likely ask 100,000 questions. But its good that they had a good time, now back to the matter at hand............. completeing QGF2 VGA Trial By Fire  :D

You know, the Coles have never ceased to amaze me with their willingness to interact with fans. Back when "Hero's Quest" (the EGA version) first came out, I actually wrote to Sierra with some questions and comments. Lo and behold, Lori Ann herself wrote me back! I still have two letters from her, typed on Sierra letterhead, sitting in a box back home. Good memories.

How fun was THAT?  Heh.  It was cool to see original design documents for Hero's Quest.  That hand-drawn picture looked much like the original EGA artwork - impressive how it was translated.

Very cool that the Coles got to see QFGIIVGA, as well.  That must be a neat feeling, to see your work 15 years later, still beloved enough to be lovingly remade.

This experience must be very satisfying and rewarding...

Dear members of the AGD team,

After so much work, scribbling, finding that lost accolade or semicolon in the code that makes a loop go out of bounds...Ah, memories.

I am playing adventures since Kings' Quest I (CGA of course).
since then, I have enjoyed every adventure from Sierra.

I tried coding my own game more than once.
It is a b*tch trying to get everything right and it takes a lot of time.
Frustrations galore and now and then another thing that finally works and a big "phew" of relief when part of it is finished.

My deepest respect for you that have the courage and patience to pull through!

Between these hardships of troubleshooting and making compromises such a meeting will encourage you even more.
Twice I got stuck on copyrights, when attemptimg to reproduce a great boardgame that had not been published or made for more than 25 years.
But meeting the grand dame that created the original and getting her approval...
Wow, that must have been something.

Keep up the good work and let point & click adventures never die as long as this akward mouse and keyboard are still necessary.
Oh, how I long for direct mind controllers, just like in Neuromancer...

wow geez... congradulations! Seriously, I think meeting Coles, seeing their qfg stuff and showing yours (qfg2vga) is impressive. I'm sort of envious. Nice of them to invite you guys. Glad they take an intrest in your project. What an honor!

That's amazing, to actually meet the Coles themselves.

Thanks for the update!
You need to update the front page of the site to match though - it still says the last update was in July, I only found it because I saw the message in here :)

Also, is it possible to get an RSS feed for the designer journals?
If you don't know what an RSS feed is, look here http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog ... s_rss.html.

That's all, thanks :)

RSS feeds were discussed earlier this year (or late last year...)

Their reply was:
No.

LOL Gronagor.

The front page was updated before I updated this post. You probably need to clear your cache or refresh the page or something.

That date's wrong.

Also, why was RSS turned down?
Do you guys use RSS (and if not, why not - best thing to happen to the net since email :) )?

I'm getting the same as Navy.

Try pressing CTRL+F5, that should force your browser to bypass any cache.

I wonder if there was some pressure for an update of the designer's journal.

It does now :)

It didn't when I posted (yes, I hit CTRL-f5 :) )

Doesn't matter anyway - thanks for the update

Yeah. A few threads down. And because of that QfG2's release date have probably been pushed back because they had to bother writing stuff that people WANT to hear.

Is something wrong with that Gronagor?

With no offence dude, but they do have another life and can always do something else other than wasting time on a freeware games if you didn't know slavedriver so just relax!  >:

You have always said to me you can wait much longer for this game so try to show me that you can wait at least longer then, instead putting so much pressure on them.  ;)  The game will come out before you will turn into grand - grand - dad so don't worry.

Fribbi when I read your message I thought you were actually "shouting" at Gronagor.  The reason is because you said "so just relax!" with  >:  at the end of it.

To me, that says you are angry.  If you had said the same thing with  :p  at the end, most of us would have known you were just joking.

The emoticons can be used to show sarcasm and other feelings... when you are writing with feeling try to think of the face you'd actually be making, and then use that emoticon.  Save the angry red face for when you are truly mad about something.

Or maybe your master plan is to confuse everyone... just like those people who turn on their right signal and then proceed to make a left turn in their car  ;)    :p

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the emergency exit. Please remember where it is and use it if you need a quick way out.
