You know what to do.
well. this was a very very very easy choice for me seeing as how i DO live on an island already and i DO love rum hehe besides. my island is where rum originated from. "Barbados produces light, sweetish Rums from both pot and column stills. Rum distillation began here and the Mount Gay Distillery, dating from 1663, is probably the oldest operating Rum producer in the world." (and they are still making great rum to this day )

Good point.
Actually you just reminded me of this guy I used to know in grade school. A few people were having a competition in the school yard to see who could hold their breath the for the longest time.
The guy Hugh won... but he kept holding his breath until he started to turn purple, and then passed out and hit his head. He was out for a minute or so, then came to. Man it was scary, we thought he was dead. Thinking back now, all I can say is, what a dork!

I would try to find Dr. Hibbert's underground lair, and ask him to turn me into an animal-human hybrid, created with misguided science. Then join the rest of the animal-human hybrids created with misguided science, cover myself in mud, break the conch shell and dance around naked, and party like it's 1799.
Depend on your weight. Skinny people could probably do it with a lungfull of air, and laugh at the rest of us who have to go up every 13 seconds to breath again. Normal poeple could do it by exhaling, then going under. I, on the other hand, would need to be wearing a lead apron to, uh, protect me from all the clorine.Frode wrote:btw does anyone know how to sink in water easily without efort, so sit on the bottem of the deep end for a while?

Sure you could die from holding your breath. It just isn't easy in a setting where there is plenty of air for you to breath when you pass out.Erpy wrote:Don't worry too much about those "hold-breath-wannabe-suicidals". It's impossible to kill yourself by holding your breath, unless you put tape over your nose and mouth or so.
Say, for example, that you were at the edge of the highest portion of a very tall structure. If you were to pass out, and fall, there is a good chance that you would die as a result (I'm sudenly reminded of the opening sequence of Paranoia Agent here for some reason....)

well. if your able to dodge the roof of the elevator crushing down like an accordian then possibly you might live hehe. i highly doubt it though. lets say the elevators final speed before impact was something like 50kmph or more then you would need to be able to generate enough energy in your legs to push your body the exact speed or more. the acceleration from 0 to 50 in 0 seconds would easily shatter your bones and tear every tendon and muscle in your legs.
Actually, considering the fact that one is almost always pressing downwards whith their legs when standing, so as to fight gravity, if an elevator were to fall, odds are that that pressure would launch you airborne when you startv to fall. Which means that you would likely hover in the middle of the elevator until it hits the bottom. So you very likely wouldn't get a chance to even try to jump.
Actually, considering the air resistance the elevator would be facing, and the fact that you wouldn't be facing any (being inside the elvator), you might actually fall slightly faster then the elevator, but still not enough to have a chance of survival, unless you can escape from the top of the elevator before it hits....
