Horror Movie!

The first "War of the Worlds" movie is the absolute worst movie I have ever seen. H. C. Wells must have turned inside his grave at the time it was released...
Good horror movies... Can't really add much after some of the ones that were already mentioned. The only movie which used to give me nightmares as a kid was "It". Until I learned who played the clown and saw the giant spider. :rolleyes The book was of course much more gruesome than the movie could ever be, but somehow didn't had an effect on me, although I was about 10 or so when I read it.

Yeah, the film of it really couldn't get into the meat of the metaphysical battles between IT and Bill Denbrough. Or even mention "The Turtle" - It the book was fearsome - the film was great, too, I liked a lot of the sets and pieces from the film. I was tainted by the book, however, and the mini-series(film) fell flat in my eyes.

Anyone ever seen the movie The Gate? I saw it when I was about 10 and it scared me to death. I saw it again when I was 20, took one look at the pitiful claymation demons, and immediately realized I was so easy to mess with when I was younger.

Dual wielding spear and axe...that's an "interesting" thought there. Personally I've always been the sword and shield type of person but you can't go wrong with two swords either...Maces require to much focus and axes are just a bit heavy for me however if you learn to use your whole body staves can be very effective.
anywho, I saw War Of The Worlds a couple days ago and I liked it a lot. May be the first film I actually buy in quite awhile. Last movie i bought was the Alladin 2 and 3 DVD bundle. However WotW will be welcome on that shelf. I thought it was a lot better than say The Longest Yard which I saw earlier that day.

I saw Spielburg's War of the Worlds yesterday with a good friend of mine. Our opinions of the movie were about the same...excellent summer movie schlock, but a bit thin in the "tying up loose ends department"; it's definitely not a movie for the uptight sort who want everything explained and resolved by the end. Also, Dakota Fanning continues to impress me; that little girl has serious acting chops.

I'm not scared by horror movies, yet the old ones I like, not these crappy ones they produce these days (ala Grudge, Ring 1+2, Freddy Vs Jason and sorry FG but the Scream trilogy and any of the other teen horrors)
Ones I feel that deserve mentioning are:
Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 2 and 3. The third one grew on me since it was the first NOES film I saw.
Alien gets a mention here.
Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre actually should get a mention for scaring the hell out of me with the first scene of Leatherface.
I'm surprised The Shining hasn't been mentioned, that's a creepy film.
And not but not least, because I was young when I saw it and it did infact scare the hell out of me (yet when I watch it now I laugh so hard I split a seem) The Evil Dead 1 + 2.
