You didn't overreact to porn being posted on a family website in a General Discussion forum that was disguised as something much more innocent (though still banned). However, since I thought it was a posting of abandonware only, which was still a breach in conduct but a much smaller one, I thought you and GuJiaXian were very much overreacting.

And Angelus, it takes all of 3 seconds for Erpy or Navynuke to make a post saying, "Links to gay porn sites aren't allowed here, 1EyedParrot. Do it again and you're banned permenantly." True, there are 24 hours in a day, but if Erpy and Navynuke have the time to contribute to the community with normal general discussion, they also have time to tell us why they edited or deleted or locked something, provided that they're not restricted from doing so by the higher-ups.

QFGfan, Parrot already got banned once and once someone's let back in, the sheet isn't wiped clean...it just means they got one more chance before becoming a permanent ex-resident.

Kurdt, sometimes we post a justification, sometimes we don't. The issue with posting "this is why we deleted your post" is that it's basically prone to asking the forum members if they agree with it or not. I personally think it would be great if people didn't automatically assume that if no justification was posted, the post had to be removed for a silly reason because wE AREZ TEH DICTAT0RSH1PZ

I'm not speaking of every single post. I'm moreso meaning as far as controversial things go. Abandonware (at least in my mind) is a controversial topic, because there are those who support it that visit here. If there was flaming involved or spamming or inappropriate linking to other sites (lewd or otherwise), I'm sure there'd be no need for explanation. However, since a gray area in the minds of certain people was inadvertantly trodded upon, it'd just be nice to know why things were done the way they were. As it is, the beginning of this thread looks almost hypocritical. "Oh, you've broken the rules on abandonware? Well, FLAME FLAME FLAME!!!"

I mean, while LucasFan isn't really a friendly name around here, he was quite innocently and earnestly showing his opinion on what he considers a bad epidemic on message boards -- that is, armchair moderating to the point of flaming, which I in fact agree with him upon. However, because the mods were in the know, they saw it as a blatant attack given his history. Do you see how this can quickly become a problem? Accusations, he-said-she-said-BS, and apparent "hypocracy" are not good things to throw around a friendly neighborhood message board.

And it wouldn't be asking for our approval. It'd be telling us why to warn us off repeating the breach of rules. I don't know why you'd think it'd be any different...

Kurdt, as Erpy said, sometimes we'll give reasons and sometimes we won't. If we feel something needs moderated, we'll moderate it. There does not need to be reasons given. You should trust our judgement. Everyone knows the rules, and that should be enough to keep people from repeating the breach in conduct.

Continuing this discussion is only giving them the attention they desired in the first place (which I feel is a bad thing). I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.

In the future, please just trust our judgement. If you have concerns, you can feel free to contact us privately (PM or IM).
