How long did it take to completely finish King's Quest 1 including voice acting? If Kq4 gets remade, it would be probablly a 1:1 remake on AGS (cause sponge factory stopped with his own engine) with voice acting.

KQ1VGA took about nine months. KQ2VGA took exactly one year. Each subsequent game we've worked on is more complex than its predecessor, so the development times also increase.
On a related note, our main focus will be reverting back to QFG2VGA programming a bit later this week and it will be worked on until the game is ready for beta testing. It'll be announced officially on the news page when it happens!

Re:
With all the fuss about other fan projects lately I'd nearly forget there's still QFG2VGA... ;)
Well while everyone is always wanting more news about qfg2vga, I think if they did a in depth report of everything they were doing with the project it would be very uninteresting to most fans. All they would have to say right now would be explaining each and every bug they ran into and how they fixed it.
Someone needs to start on kq4, sq3, and sq2. AGDI has been gracious enough to do three remakes, we don't need to badger them to make more. I'd try to start one but seeing that I don't have game making experience except in sound and music, I wouldn't get very far.

Actually, other groups started those 3 projects and they all stopped development in the last few months. Problem isn't finding people with skills. Problem is keeping them motivated.
And with Kq9 receiving a C&D not many groups will be willing to start something in the next few months.

That's a very negative attitude. None of the developers were born with the knowledge and skills. IF you want to start a project, you'll learn how.BenW. wrote:I'd try to start one but seeing that I don't have game making experience except in sound and music, I wouldn't get very far.

I like the idea that QFG2VGA would be far more complex than the others, it makes the long wait worth it!
But anyway, one thing about QFG2VGA that makes me happy is the fact that it proves that fan projects DO come true and don't all end up being defunct for any number of reasons.
Till next time stay cool :smokin

Complexity
I believe that was simply a reference to the complexity of the basic structure of the game (which is therefore present in the original EGA version as well). They meant that the game, having 3 different "paths" each of which includes many different scenarios and branching outcomes, is more complex to remake than were other projects.Paladinlover wrote:I like the idea that QFG2VGA would be far more complex than the others, it makes the long wait worth it!
As far as content and level of challenge are concerned, I believe it was established a while back that other than various tweaks and surprise-changes to the world of Shapeir, plotwise it's gonna be about the same ride as in the original.
