More Remakes?

#1 Post by jtrinaj » Sat Sep 17, 2005 4:57 pm

Just wanted to know if there are any future plans on making more kq games, I love the first 2 and I am looking at playing more games like it but can't seem to find any as good quality as the ones you made.
Thanks :)  :)  :)

Hello and welcome fellow Canadian. No more KQ games are scheduled as of yet however another team (not sure if I can post who on these boards) Is making Kings Quest 3 VGA and is nearing completion.

An excellent old school adventure game is in the making, check out http://www.himalayastudios.com/ for their game Al Emmo & The Lost Dutchman's Mine.

I still don't understand why they haven't  opened any forums in Himalayastudio now.

Because they are too busy working on finishing the first game. The only thing that opening forums right now would do is give people a place to ask for release dates. Once the game is done and released, there will be forums to serve for tech support and hints, etc.

Rob, we're not QFG41/2 so I don't see any harm in posting our link.

Fanventures has a list of all the Sierra games currently in the making or even finished.

They used to have forums for Himalaya Studios however, I'm not sure what happened to that though.

Hey Quest For Glory 4 1/2 was a great game! Does anyone know if they got around to making that western they hinted about in the past?

That's the thing, it is. AGDI just have some beef with them, I know why but it's too long to describe in words.

And that Western idea won't be happening unless they've been secretly doing it.

If by "they" you mean AGDI / Himalaya, look here:

I think he meant the team of QFG4 1/2. I don't specifically remember anything about them making a Western game but I did hear something along those lines.

That's funny, I would have thought having a forum would have helped generate hype for the game. Sure, there would be people asking about the release date...but that just means that there are GROUPS of people excited about the upcoming release -- and since madness spreads, I would have thought it'd be a good idea.

Then again, not too many game sites [LucasArts, etc] have forums, so maybe you're right. What do I know -- I'm just a little Hobbit sitting in my hole. ;)

The problem is that Himalaya is still just a small group of people. This would mean that having forums would distract them from working on the game because they'd have to moderate it. They prefer to have no forums until they have a game.

Lucasforums - Although it's not shown on the site, this is the closest thing LF have to official forums.

I think they do not plan to make future remakes, they are more focused on their comercial & original titles, IMHO.

Oh ok thanks. I didn't think anyone would mind but I was just being cautious. I had no idea about any beef in between AGDI and the QFG4.5 team so it just goes to show that it's better to be safe then sorry.

The guys I was referring to doing KQ3VGA was http://www.infamous-adventures.com as most of you know and they look like they will complete their fan game and not slip through the cracks like so many teams in the past.

Also Fanventures is a great place to check on what's going on in the fan world but I'd rather stick to these 2 forums (AGDI and IA) just because it's the same community and the first I've posted on

Have you ever considered making a game from any of the KQ books? This is my favourite:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/157297 ... e&n=283155

You already have the story, and for the rest you have free hands to do whatever you like. Draw the scenes from the books as you imagine them, and make a game of it. I think that would be very interesting! Also, it would be a new experience and new puzzles for many KQ fans that don't know the full story about what may have happened between the official games. Just an idea.. what do you think?
