Been there, done that. I run a Sierra website and have that sort of experience on a very regular basis over the years. So, I'm not speaking without experience.
On KQ9, there's very good reasons, I'd have thought:
http://users.boardnation.com/~sierramus ... readid=149
But, that's just my (sceptical) views. I'm sure I'm in the minority with such views. But that's exactly why I write about them, because things like what I wrote get zero coverage in the world of game PR and fandoms.
EDIT: I'm actually a big fan of the Hero6 project, in its' various incarnations, for the record

I apologize to dungoensofdorks and Spikey; I wasn't referring to either of you. It was more in response to Blackthorne and MusicallyInspired's posts which, silly or not, were highly offensive.
And since Alistair decided to state his views, here's mine:

Although MusicallyInspired's posts weren't *nice*, with respect, Yonkey, I'd hardly call them 'highly offensive'. "great.. and stuff." is a nothing. Surely, as a game maker you're used to criticism. If that really bothered you, I'd hate to see how you'd react to something really vicious that someone said.
And, yes, I noticed your post on my forum. I also noticed you haven't replied to any of the controversial bits, though, I grant you make a lot of good points eloquently.
Then again, I suspect only Cesar and possibly a couple other highup folks know everything.

Bah humbug, I hate soap operas. They never end.Spikey wrote:I'm clearly missing the point of the what this thread has become. Sounds like there is a soap-opera running past me (no offense). I don't understand whach y'all are talking about now.
Yonkey, the game looks good, the site looks good. These guys are just goofing off, that's what people do. Don't take it to heart. Just throw your head back and laugh.

Ooh, the drama~
Hey guys, just checked out the updated KQ9 erm.. TSL site, and wanted to leave an opinion of my own here
What follows is purely 'The Avatar's Opinion' and doesn't necessarily reflect the views of AGDInteractive, or any other forum members for that matter:
Recalling that Roberta Williams allowed the production and distribution of KQ8: Mask of Eternity, KQ games were always about pushing the envelope in adventure gaming ideas and technology. That was one reason why KQ8 was so different. In this respect, I feel that TSL made several surprisingly wise decisions. KQ9 or TSL or whatever you want to call it, despite all the drama, backstabbing, struggles, deceptions and name changes, is still the product of a huge conglomeration of fans of the series. That kind of love and care, I believe could be nothing but a step in the right direction. It's true that the "feel" of TSL will be different from the "feel" of the rest of the King's Quest series, but at least Phoenix admits to this difference, so we won't play the game with a false impression. In any case, I'm prepared to enjoy The Silver Lining for what it is, and not for what I'd want KQ9 to be.
