Update: September 9th, 2012

Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine (Enhanced Edition v4.0) has been added on Steam Greenlight.

Click here to see Al Emmo v4.0 on Greenlight

This is an upcoming enhanced edition of Al Emmo. The major changes will be completely new Al Emmo character vocals (by new voice actor) and 2D animated cutscenes to replace the original 3D ones. There are also a plethora of other tweaks and improvements! :)

The way Greenlight works, is that the community votes for games they would like to see on Valve's Steam platform. This removes the sole decision-making from their shoulders and provides a more accurate representation of which titles the gaming community at large wants to see on Steam.

So, we could use your help! If you have a Steam account, please log-in and vote "Yes" to help us get the upcoming Al Emmo build onto the Steam platform.

If Al Emmo gets onto Steam, current owners of the game will be given a free Steam code for the Enhanced Edition.

Thank you!

CLASSIC ADVENTURE GAMING IS BACK
Himalaya Studios Ships Classic Style Adventure Game for the PC

September 6, 2006--Remember an era when classics like King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and Monkey Island reigned supreme? Remember a time when games had an enticing storyline and challenging puzzles? A few years ago, journalists proclaimed the adventure gaming genre was dead, but that didn't last for long!

The fan-bois (and girl) responsible for creating remakes of Sierra's beloved King's Quest I and King's Quest II, have just released their first original classic-style adventure game for the PC, Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine.

Britney Brimhall, Chairman & CEO of Himalaya Studios comments, "after spending several years in development, making certain to get all the details JUST right, we are SO excited to finally release the game to adventure game lovers around the world!" Brimhall also remarks, "fans of the adventure genre have been neglected for far too long, and we hope with the release of Al Emmo, that gamers will once again feel the immense nostalgic feeling of loading a classic for the first time."

Order fulfillment commenced on Wednesday morning, and those who placed a preorder can expect to receive their classic gaming goodness in a flash. For those who did not yet place an order, now is the chance to visit Himalaya Studios' brand new online store. Gamers can purchase the game, soundtrack, art prints and more, all which will be immediately shipped to their doorstep.

A trial version of Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine can be downloaded from the link below. It offers one hour of uninterrupted gameplay.

Al Emmo: Trial Demo Download directly from the Himalaya Studios site.

The full game can be unlocked by purchasing a license key from the Himalaya Store. This is a good option for those who prefer the instant gratification of being able to play the game right away.

Al Emmo is also available in German, complete with German text translation and speech. You can get it at the link below (Amazon), or check your local German stores and online channels:

Al Emmo: Das Wild West Adventure at Amazon

A Russian version has also been released with full Russian text translation and speech. It can be found at the publisher's website here:

Эл Эммо и сокровища золотой шаxты (Russian version)

Recently, Himalaya Studios updated the official Al Emmo website. Fans can mosey on over to http://www.alemmo.com to take a sneak peek behind the scenes, and see a "making of" movie; view never seen before concept art, and more!

Himalaya Studios was disappointed by the disappearance of retro, classic style adventure gaming and anticipates a major revival in the genre with their first original release. To support their mission, Himalaya Studios encourages adventure gamers throughout the world to unite and spread the word of the return of classic adventure gaming with Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine!

Okay, just ordered it. $37.99 for me, which is about £20 so that's fine. You'll see a review soon on Adventure EU from me, so if it's as good as the demo, there shouldn't be anything bad to say. :)

Al Emmo Collector's Edition Discounted

#9 Post by Anonymous Game Creator 2 » Thu Sep 20, 2007 12:37 pm

In case anyone's interested, we're currently having a clearance sale of the Collector's Edition of   "Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine".  The Collector's Edition includes the adventure game on CD, the original musical soundtrack on CD, a Wanted poster/Saloon ticket collectible print, Collectible Anozira postcard, and a placard certificate of authenticity hand-signed by the game designers.  The price of the Collector's Edition has been significantly reduced from US$59.99 down to US$34.99, and the remaining stock is being sold for a limited time on eBay. Check the first post in this thread for the eBay links.

After these items have sold out, the original packaged versions of Himalaya Studios' first adventure game will no longer be available, and no further copies will be printed.  By discontinuing sales of the original packaged version and limiting the number of copies available, we're hoping to add value to Himalaya Studios' flagship game for all the fans who purchase it.

Additionally, a fully localized and translated German version of Al Emmo has been released in Europe, complete with German voices. You can pick it up on Amazon.de, here:

Al Emmo: Das Wild West Adventure at Amazon

...or check your local German stores and online channels.

Collector's Edition

PayPal only, I presume.  Are there any other means to purchase any of the remaining copies?

I'm fairly certain that you can make Credit Card payments through PayPal without having to register an account with them. And if you don't like using your Credit Card online, Visa do sell "gift" credit cards which can be purchased with a certain amount of credit on them (sort of like phone credit). Once you've spent all of the money on the gift card, that's it -- you toss the card out. It's a good way to make online purchases without worrying about identity theft.

Alternatively, you could make a direct deposit into the Himalaya bank account, and we can ship a copy out to you. Send me a PM if you're interested in that option.

Hey there,

Just wanted to say, sorry to hear about the poor sales results. I, like most people in the Sierra community were hoping Himalaya would make it big, or at least make some waves.
Although, I'm confident there's time yet :)

Anyway. I would take you up on this collector's edition price cut for sure, but I'm moving to the US, and it costs a lot to get a green card/etc. Still, good on you for the price cut. Here's hoping it attracts the needed sales.

I'd just like to add: People, it's now or never!

This is a fair good price for the game and it's the opportunity to support this team, both, for the free games they already gave us and for future adventure games which we all love.

So don't hesitate.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention, I'm sure Navynuke or AGD2 will get right on that as soon as they can.

FYI - You just lost a sale because of that expired certificate. Hopefully it gets resolved in short order and I'll reconsider.

What is going on with the site's SSL certificate? I was hoping that the problem would be resolved by now. Also shouldn't the store say something about the poster promotion, or should we just expect that it will ship with our order?

Funny thing is that the certificate isn't expired. It still has a couple of months left on it. I haven't heard back from the service provider yet.

Dear Secure Certificate Customer,

An SSL certificate has been issued for the domain: *.himalayaforums.com.

Your hosting provider will install the issued certificate on your hosting account. Note that it may take up to 72 hours for the necessary DNS changes to take effect. As soon as DNS has been changed to point to the new, dedicated IP address, your SSL certificate will be functional.
