I've been told there will only be white Wiis at launch.

It's even been said that there won't be any other colors AT ALL, although you will still be able to get differently colored Wiimotes (I can't remember what will be available at launch, though). I'm not 100% sure if that's true, though.

Edit: Er, what he said... ^^^^^^

However, I beleive that the white only Wiis are only for the Launch period, where Nintendo is trying to avoid confusion by only selling one type of unit... I'd expect other colors (or at least black) to be available before too long, although you'll be stuck with only the white Wii as an option for the first several months.

Usually the way it works with all Nintendo stuff anyway. Except for the GBP, GBC, and GBA.

My two cents

I agree.  This is how an offline RPG with MMO-styling should play (far better than the .hack games).  The story is epic, the graphics are crisp, the music (both remixed Uematsu and brand-new Sakimoto) is memorable, and the voices are actually decent this time around.  I especially like the little details showing a connection with Matsuno's other works of Ivalice (Tactics, Tactics Advance, and Vagrant Story).  All in all, I'm having a blast.

Now I just have to decide whether or not to wait on getting the GBA FFV (I'll likely wait on the DS FFIII as I still haven't entered the next-gen console environment).

I disagree althouh I think the game is very good and possibly the best the battle system is too Kingdom Heartsy for me and the voices (particularly Vaan) are sometimes irking to no end. Other than that though the graphics don't seem like a huge step up from X (Yes I do notice the difference! I'm saying it isn't an enormous difference) and the story seems really straightforward and predictable. Keep in mind I'm not that far in but so far it's coming up average on my opinio-meter. Some of the new elements of the gameplay are really neat though like the whole piracy aspect and the hunting.

I have noticed that when I play this game alone I have urges to play other very different games. Whenever I see an airship due to the way they look I want to play Rogue Squadron III and whenever I do a hunt or the air pirates are even mentioned I want to play Skies of Arcadia more. This is all said and good if it weren't for the fact that the games it makes me want to play weren't all nintendo games with the occaisional wanting of playing X again to get the last few Ultimate weapons.

On a scale of 1-10 with 8 being an average FF and 2 being Catwonam I put this one at a 9 because it just slithers past standard for me so far, take note that I'm only about 8 or 9 hours in at this point. Also for reference I'll say FFV is a 6 and FFVIII is a 4 (my two least favorite)

That was a most interesting read. And I also agree that remakes utilizing the wiimote would rule. Or even further installments.

Yea, at the very least there will be a Wii ScummVM emulator no doubt. Hell you can even play GC homebrew on Wii through GC mode.

Speaking of Wii, GAME called me this evening to let me know my Wii was IN STOCK right now!! Shame I can't pick it up till Friday morning  :cry

Just because you used the system name so many times, I say this...

...go enjoy a good Wii. :p

Yeah, I know it's been said many, many times before.

Heh, I was going for the EXACT same package as you. Annoying thing is, my store didn't get enough Wii's so I have to wait a bit. So pissed off about that.

Darn you and your superior packaging of Wii Sports! And Wii play..! Your dog looks pretty eerie in that picture though, for some reason.....

On the other hand, how do you feel about trading Wii #s? I've been waiting for a chance to see the Mii parade in action...

This is just great...  I got a letter saying that I might not even get a Wii until after Christmas. I don't know if I should blame Currys or Nintendo, but I am pissed off. My aunty is mad at me as well as she pre ordered from Currys too for her two sons, but I'm not sure if she's going to get them in time for Christmas. I just want my WII!

If you pre-ordered well in advance then there's no reason why you shouldnt get them before Xmas, may be worth having a word with GAME and see if they can get you a machine before Xmas.

I preordered on Sep 25th so I was one of the first to get my Wii at GAME.

Speaking of Wii my arm is killing from Wii Baseball lol!

Mine's 7223 7858 0450 8691. Just added you to the list, jpnuar.

Broomie, sorry to hear you'll have to wait so long. I know some stores didn't get very many Wiis (one of the EB Games stores here in Denmark only got 5), so that's probably what happened at yours.

K Pidgeot, you've been added to my console... And sorry to hear about the shortages there Broomie. Nintendo is suposedly doing all it can to meet the demand of the European launch though, so here's hoping you get it in time!  ;)
