7 Years

#1 Post by eXitOnLy_AGD » Fri Mar 23, 2007 10:50 pm

7 years i've been coming to this site. 7 years is when I first heard about QG2 Remake. 7 Years was when I could first e-mail the original AGD's and actually get a response. I was still sneaking into the bathroom with Victoria's Secret magazine's. Now, after a stint of college, after living on my own for 3 years, and after having my own TV Show and no longer taking to much interests in video games, I still find myself coming back to this site to see if there will be a possible completion. Its a nasty 7 year old habit.

Any possible completion date that doesn't resemble Christmas? Because I think that's what I heard 2 Christmas' ago.

(uh oh.. I guess now would be the time when I get a bunch of angry wannabe fans yelling at me and telling me it will be ready when its ready.) Chill out, I'm just wondering.  And... i've been wondering.... for.... 7..... years...

It's ok, dude. You have to remember, this is a fan project. It will be done VERY soon, I'm sure of it.
Maybe by the time my birthday (July 31st), comes around.

Wait a bit longer. Seems like you got more patience then most.
Don't rush a good thing.

We didn't really need to know that. Unless, of course, any of those catalogues featured the gorgeous Tyra Banks. In that case, high-resolution scans are required. :D

I hate to say what I'm about to, but it is when it is.

I must admit I have the same problem, coming here day after day.
Its almost like a binge, I load the site day after day for weeks, looking for any news, then stop for a couple of months.
At least we got some news this year so far!!

Dude, you gotta look at it this way.
These guys are basically non profit.
Hell, I'm sure you downloaded their other two free games,
KQ1 and 2, plus the voice packs. Hell, who is paying the voice actors. Whose paying the artists? Whose paying the programmers, the writers, the debuggers(gotta be hell), the musicians, the publicity, etc etc etc.
They have no one paying them 2 mil and a half to get it done, fast and properly. They have there own ventures, but its not enough to push a great thing out like this in a timely manner.

The other two releases by AGD, aka Tierra were done damn near perfect.
Other than the "creative" aspect they added to the games, namely KQ2, I did not encounter one bug, or crash related to the game.
I can't say too much for Sierra games, on that note. They had so many bugs, you'd need an exterminator to spray your computer, and then tie it to the back of his truck and drag it all the way back to California, where the piece of crap Alpha and Beta testing was done.

Sierra games only worked perfectly on official Sierra computers.

If I ever win the lottery, I swear to tie a nice chunk of it in adventure gaming, so people like you, me, and AGD doesn't have to wait this long.

Maybe I would start my own adventure gaming company, Great Lakes, or something.

Well, my good man, there are plenty of other sites you can visit...like mine.
www.squadronsixentertainment.com

Yes, I know that was a shameless plug. But you need something to do, and I need people to hang out on my boards. Cheers.

I'm reminded of the scene in Willow, when the good witch lady looks at herself, realizes how old she is, and says, "Has it been so long?"

It doesn't seem that long ago since I first discovered the King's Quest II remake, but I think it has to have been at least 3 or 4 years.  Where has the time gone?

Hey Alliance,

I went to your site and tried, but
your site is in need of dire repair.
I couldn't sign up for the forums, I must have a bad link or something.
Your plugins are not compatible. You letter text verification did not even show itself.
You seem legit though, and its badass you're trying to redo SQ3.
Haven't played that one in a while. I love those old Adlib sound effects in that one. The door openings were the best.
Damn, I forgot I even had that one.
I have 90% of the major Sierra titles on my trusty old Pentium 2.
Even that crapbox took 3 years for me to find the proper software like GOsierra. To think I back programmed it for that long, a shame.
Well, I'm gonna try to hit your site again. If not, good luck.

Oh, gosh!
I wasn't even aware of that. The registration problem is fixed, though.

What makes people think that somehow if they ask "the question," they'll get a different answer than everyone else who's asked?  If you've truly been here 7 years then you know your answer.

Dammit, AGDI, if you don't release QFGII tomorrow, then I'm going to leave the forums FOREVER!

AND YOU'LL REALLY BE SORRY.

Cause I'm taking my ball with me.

You can't blame people for asking, it HAS been a long time waiting.

Most people don't understand the issues involved in making a game, trust me, it's not as easy as it looks. QFG2 would be the most difficult of all the EGA games too.

You're not the only one...

#14 Post by BeerNutts » Mon Mar 26, 2007 6:46 pm

You're not the only one who's been waiting 7 years for QFG2 remake.  So many other have as well, so don't make it sound like you're the only one.

(I've been here since Royal Quest was still in development...and my bookmark actually still sayd Royal Quest, cause thats what the original site's title was, probably late 1999).

See you tomorrow.

C'mon BT, they've still got a few hours left until the deadline you gave them.  Don't leave (until tomorrow) yet!

Yeah, it looks like people are actually starting to have fun around here again. Maybe a few more demands for the immediate release of QFGII VGA will do the trick, c'mon newbies what do you say?

I have to admit I was slow to find out about this remake, I found out about it through a random Google search a couple years ago.  Since then, I've bookmarked this site and check every other day probably, not necessarily for it's completion, but usually to see if there's an new designer journal entry or newsletter.  Wasn't really until last month that I decided to join the forums.

It'll be done soon, I think the three to four weeks of shipping time I used to have to wait from Sierra in between Quest for Glory games felt longer.

I first came here in late 2001 to play KQ1VGA. KQ2+ wasn't out yet then, but I do remember the site saying that it and QFG2VGA were both gonna come out around the same time. I then returned in 2003 to find KQ2+ had been out a while. But, no QFG2...

so, now... damnit... where is QFG2? I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!

Actually, the correct quote is:

"I am as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

-It's from Network, a movie that was released in 1976 and was well ahead of its time regarding its message.
