uploading pictures

Hi everyone, I have a question.
how does a person go about uploading pictures onto the forums? I believe you have to place them online first correct?
I don't come here often, but I had some images I'd like to show in the game making forum. That is all,

You can upload them to an image hosting site like Image Shack, then copy the links and use the image tags for the forum topic.
