QG2 Hero Outfit

#1 Post by traveler.in.time » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:03 pm

As you decided to use the original QG2 style hero garb for the majority of the game, will our favorite hero change into the QG3 clothes we see in the intro to Wages of War?  Or will this be a similar change to the presence of a cape, or different colored pants; just adjusting to the atmosphere of the game?

No, the hero will keep his classic Arabic outfit throughout the entire game. We didn't want to create two versions of possibly hundreds of frames for what's essentially nothing more than a gimmick.

The fault there lies with QFG3's intro. Besides, how (and why) would the hero change his clothes to a safari outfit when he's only halfway through his duties in Raseir and doesn't even know his next destination is Tarna yet? Even after he defeats Ad Avis, he still stays in Shapeir for a few more weeks, and the QFG3 garb wouldn't be very well suited to the hot climate.

By having the hero change to his QFG3 clothes before he confronts Ad Avis at the end of the game, we'd only be taking a logical error from QFG3 and placing it into QFG2.

It's easier to just acknowledge that the fault exists in QFG3, rather than having our version attempt to fix what is an obvious continuity error. There are more faults in the QFG3 intro anyway, such as the stone gargoyle not being present, and Khaveen not making an appearance for the Wizard.

the one question I have is will you have the summoning room look like the one in qfg3 or were you doing something else? Like a 1:1 remake of the ega room or a mix of the qfg2 +qfg3 versions?

Yeah the problems I can remember with no gargoyle and there was no statue of Iblis. Seemed like they shortened it to save time but then why even show the flashback?

In our remake, the ritual chamber looks like a cross between QFG2's and QFG3's. The room textures and the pentacle resemble QFG3's chamber, but the screen layout resembles QFG2's perspective.

During the intro, will Dev have the QFG1 VGA style-outfit, or the EGA version?

As for continuity problems, his pants magically change from green to blue in between QFG3 and 4.

Will he still have polka-dot boxer shorts?   ;)

Thats because certain colors don't react well to being teleported by dark magic.  :)

He'll have the QFG1VGA style clothes during the intro.

is the vest gonna be blue or brown, to keep in the VGA continuity (all vga Heroes have a white shirt and a brown vest, in varying styles)?

In the intro, the hero looks exactly like in QfG1VGA: green pants, brown vest, white shirt, red cape.  In the actual game, he looks the same as in QfG2 (but more VGAy): purple pants, blue vest with purple highlights, white shirt, no cape.

For some reason it just dawned on me that the QFG series has a karmic balance of temperature.  We have winter blocked Speilburg, then middle-eastern hot, then african hot, followed by cold Eastern European country-side, and finish it off with a temperate Silmaria.  Not sure why, but that amuses me.

Well, the games do correspond to different seasons, from Spring through Winter. (QFG3 is just kinda hanging out there between Summer and Fall, since it wasn't originally planned.)

It also reflected different mythologies, German, Arabic, Greek and something like Scandanavian. Not sure which goes where, except for Arabic and Greek.

I would like to have seen an oriental QFG, and one set in the depths of winter (two things that I think are missing from the QFG series), although a Mexican/South American influence could have been interesting as well
