I'm too busy enjoying my Gold Triforce DS and the games I picked up for it.  Almost makes me sorry I waited so long, but the presence of Power, Wisdom, and Courage in my handheld offsets that. :D

Rumor is is that I'm getting a pink DS for my birthday which is in a couple days.  Recommendations for quality games?  I'll take any genre really, though I prefer RPGs and puzzle games.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and/or either of the two Castlevania games would be my pick.

The Castlevania games, yea, I'll check those out.  Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel of Wind Waker so I'd have to play that one first.  :P

New Super Mario Bros. I've asked for and Super Mario DS is meh.  I played Super Mario 64 many, many times.  Looking for something new.

Game of note

Final Fantasy III should be down to at least $20; I'd go with that.

And are you getting the generic Coral Pink or the specialty Metallic Rose DS as part of the Nintendogs: Best Friends bundle (the counterpart to my Gold Triforce DS w/Phantom Hourglass)?

Yea, I asked for FF3 too.  I wanted to see how they improved it over the Famicon version.

I believe it's just the generic coral pink.  That's what I showed my parents when they asked me what I wanted.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Mario Galaxy, amazing game! As is Uncharted on PS3 which I'm playing right now!
What are star points? Are they European exclusive, or am I just being ignorant of something obvious?

Sounds like Puzzle Quest is the perfect game for you then. I highly recommend it.

I think they might just be Euro exclusive.

Everytime you buy a Nintendo product whether it be Wii, DS or a game you get a scratch card with a code on which you can enter on the Nintendo Europe website, this then gives you "Star Points" which you could use to buy things like wallpapers, ringtones and sometimes a DS game like Age of Empires.

They've now finally allowed users to trade their Star Points for Wii Points to use in the shopping channel!

I received both Final Fantasy 3 and Puzzle Quest for the DS.  I've got plenty of games now to keep me occupied.  Puzzle Quest looks to be a very interesting play.  Puzzles and RPG... where have I heard that combo before... ;)

Bah, I got a lot of great games for Christmas.

-Half Life: The Orange Box (Which comes with Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2)
-Assasin's Creed
-Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
-Call of Duty 4

I seriously love my PS3. My only complaint is that the family only has one, and my siblings (and Dad) hog it so much. Eventually, we might get another one, which would be swell.

None of those games are that good, and the PS3 is garbage. You should sell it and get a Wii with Super Mario Galaxy. And don't try to argue, I already turned someone into a frog for bashing the Wii.

Sorry, but I like having a REAL console, not some baby toy with maybe one good game worth playing.
And it's a crappy excuse for exercise.
Oh, and friend codes are pitiful.
As is pretty much everything on the Wii. I've tried it, it's nothing more than a suck factory.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and HOW DARE YOU BASH MY PS3? (hmm...there's no evil laugh smiley...oh well)

<Frog> Methinks thine Wii is foul!

What ya gonna do ta him, Boogey? :p

In all honesty, I find benefits to both systems.  The PS3 is an excellent high-end hardcore system, a very cheap Blu-Ray player, and has several upcoming titles of note (FF13, MGS4, etc.) - it's just Sony is majorly ticking off the fanbase with its pricing and general attitude. The Wii is unique, low in price, and still the source for all things Nintendo (like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid, to name but a few).  Both have their pluses and their minuses.

Finally, to whomever is in charge of the forum tech support...why can only the first word appearing between carrot brackets <these> appear?  I typed these right here in between the ones immediately preceding this sentence.

Neither of those systems has anything on the 360. While Mario Galaxy looks great, that's about the only thing on the Wii that does. I hear Wii Tennis and Wii Golf is fun, but the day I buy a console to play the sports games is the day I kill a yak from 200 yards away with mind bullets. As for PS3...what games are on it, again?

Well, it doesn't have 10 million horrible spin-offs of Halo, Half Life, and Bioshock. About 90 percent of the 360's games are crappy rip-offs, The other 10 percent are cross-platform games that made it onto the PS3.

umm Alliance. What's PS3 exclusive exactly at the moment :P. Even if what you say about the 360 having 90 percent rip offs and 10 percent ports those ports account for 95 percent of the PS3 catalog while 5% is... Resistance fall of man. I went threesixwii and I dislike both the new metroid franchise and the Halo franchise and adore the Metal Gear franchise. What does that tell you about how appealing this console is? especially considering the fact that cash wise My 360 and Wii together cost me 40 dollars LESS than a PS3.

Wipeout
White Knight Story
Way of the Samurai 3

Final Fantasy Versus XIII
God Of War III
Gran Turismo 5

Hot Shots Golf 5
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Killzone 2

Metal Gear Solid 4
METRO 2033: The Last Refuge
Mist of Chaos
Monster Hunter 3

Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Ni-Oh
Ratchet and Clank

Resistance Fall Of Man 2

Not to mention HD-DVD is dead so Blu-Ray FTW!

Also as devs get to grips with PS3 and make it their lead platform multiplatform games are running better on PS3, take Burnout: Paradise for example.

Both consoles have their strengths and weakness' but PS3 will have a much longer life than 360, MS is already rumoured to be releasing their next Xbox within 2 years! They dumped the first Xbox after 4 years.

sure you can slap out the list of exclusives but at the end of the day its still the shortest list and even shorter if you cut it down to all 5 of those that you'd actually want to play. Also note that I haven't seen half of those on shelves they're just announced. In this world of instant gratification a lot is taken into account. Again talking price value I've no doubts the PS3 will outlive both. To me it's much less an argument and much more about preference and honestly when you look at video games as a whole how much time do you spend on a game versus how much cash you put out. Just a few personal examples if I may;

2006-Gears of War: Cost=$70, Play time = 12Hours.
2004-Max Payne II: Cost=$19.99, Play time = 30 Hours.
2000-Evolution:World of Sacred Device=$15, play time = 60 hours
1997-Fallout: Cost=$40, Play time = hundreds of hours
1992-Quest For Glory I VGA=$40 in the collection, Play time =... from then to now on and off.

Now these are of course select examples and Fallout and Quest For Glory are available through downloads albeit not legally but what does this say about recent replay value?

I get what your saying but I prefer quality over quantity, Uncharted was only about 8-10 hours but was absolutley stunning.

I just hate the idea of finishing a game and thinking well that game was $10 per hour and I don't care how fun it was it was god damn expensive. It doesn't matter the quality of a champagne your jaw still drops at the bill.

It depends how you think of it.

I don't think of the money at all. The thing I love most (apart from my daughter) is gaming.

I would of bought a PS3 if it was £1000, because I knew it would have the games I wanted to play.

I have never regretted buying Uncharted once. If I never played it again (which I will as it has alot of unlockables etc) I wouldnt even think of it being a waste of money.

Well, for those like me who don't exactly make a groundbreaking amount of money, I need to choose games that are cheap and will provide me with 20-30 hours of entertainment.  Thus, RPGs make me warm and fuzzy inside.

it's clear we all share a fondness for gaming but money certainly curves the level of influence a game can have on you. Also I notice you said you love it most apart from your daughter but what about vamp? :evil ?
