I was gonna post this in random rants but I reckon it justifies it's own bigboy thread. Aidgle is a custom version of google. The difference being, that everytime you visit it 1 cent of a US dollar is donated to a non-profit organization doing relief work in current disaster location.
Google receives approximately 200 million search queries per day. Aidgle donates 1 cent every time someone visits us.
If we could get Aidgle to receive 500,000 visits per day, $5000 would be donated daily to people in need. Most people who we help live on less than 2 dollars per day, so we could feed and provide for 2500 people daily.
This is only if 0.25% of Google's users visit Aidgle instead. If that number ever reached 5%, or 10 million visits per day, we would be providing for 50,000 people DAILY. That's a stadium full of people.
The difference you can make by spreading the word is enormous. Please help us make more people visit Aidgle by using the tools on the right.
The site stresses that you get the same results as you would if using Google. So why not make the homepage switch guys, it's effortless and for a good cause too ;) .

I was trying to find that out myself. The only references on the site I could find however was 'Our Sponser'. I just assumed they have sponsered links like Google does. It says revenue goes to the charities.

I suppose it goes into running and maintaining costs.

What charities and non-profits actually get this money? Where does the poo go?

Quite a money-making scheme... playing on people's good nature... (or attempt of...)
I'm not that convinced with the 1 cent thing.

I dont see how they could be making huge amounts of money based on peoples good nature. A sponser wouldn't sponser them if they didn't think their money was going to the proper place.
