I've had a theory about this. What if all three major baddies, excluding the Dragon and Baba Yaga, were similar entities, akin to the various Great Old Ones of Lovecraftian Mythos, with Avoozl taking the role of Cthulhu. I think we all figured out the connection there. They all seem to have a fairly similar M.O. - corrupt servants on the mortal realm, use them to open a portal so that they can attack Glorianna.

Except Katrina's history as we know it kinda clashes with that theory.

How so Erpy?

Katrina weren't Avoozl's servant... the cult was. Katrina simply thought she could somehow control Avoozl.

Nevermind, I misread his last post.

Still, the history of Iblis and Avoozl seems different. Iblis was a djinni, like there were supposed to be many of in Shapeir and upon a power rush, tried to take over the world with an allience of like-minded djinns from a city that eventually became the forbidden city. Avoozl on the other hand, just wanted to enter this dimension in order to destroy it.

So Iblis was a native of Glorianna while Avoozl was not.

Native or naturalized ... they (the djinn) might have been there from the beginning and still be from elsewhere.

Heh! Yeah! For all we know lamps are nothing more than an arab version of a 'death gate'/'portal to the netherworld'/'door to darkness'/etc etc. :p Iblis' summoning isn't very conventional for Djinn in any case. :p

(Talk about pulling a story out of proportion!)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iblis

In Islamic tradition, Iblis is the name of the primary devil (Satan or Shaitan).

Basically, we are looking at the same kind of evil entity.... just different mythos versions of him.

You know, for some reason I thought I had tried asking about Katrina the last time I played QfG2. I think she says she doesn't know you and can't be your sponsor... but this could just be my memory playing tricks on me again. I guess I could suck some blue frogs to port myself there and ask.

The QfG2 parser does not understand the word "Katrina." You can't ask for her as sponsor.

This made me too curious and I had to check it out. Zara and Aziza both say that they have not known you long enough to be your sponsor, which is probably what you're thinking of. If you ask for Katrina to be your sponsor, they give you the generic response, "That is not an appropriate sponsor."

As for the others, Merlin says he doesn't know you and won't be your sponsor, and the wizards say they haven't been able to contact Erana. Ad Avis gives the interesting response that if you do become a wizard, you might be of some use to him. And Houdini, of course, is struggling with a straitjacket when he declines your request.

Isn't there a way to ask for the black portrait as your sponsor? Left-clicking on it when prompted maybe?

Nope. There's no way at all to ask the black portrait, Katrina, or the Dark Master to be your sponsor in WIT. We've been over all the lines of script from every room in the EGA game and there's simply nothing mentioned about it anywhere. There's not even any unused text that has been commented out, nor are the words set up in QFG2's parser list.

Any chance that we might ask her to sponsor the Hero for WIT in the remake for grins >D

well Katrina is the favourite of all. why dont anyone think about making a prequel of quest for glory taking katrina as the main lead , showing how she turned into a vampire and chose the path of darkness....... it would be a super hit

(Looks at Project Katrina homepage... notices Silver Sphinx Studios reference)

Ha! Silver Sphinx Studios... I think I was quite drunk when I came up with that name. Still, it was a lot of fun making 'Hero of Infamous Kingdoms' seeing as it was made in just a month!
