World Map ( A question for my dearest Erpy)
is it possible to put a world map back on the forums as it was before? where everyone can mark their positions on the map....
Re: World Map ( A question for my dearest Erpy)
Actually, it's Navynuke you should adress about that. I don't recall exactly why it was removed. Maybe it didn't work well alongside one of the updates.

Didn't seemt to work all that well anyways.
Seems the map could only hold a certain number of posts, and the earliest ones get deleted.

Re: World Map ( A question for my dearest Erpy)
The map was provided by a third party and had ads all over it unless you wanted to pay. As Gron mentioned, it would only hold so many posts and then the older ones started getting bumped. They would remove this limitation if you wanted to pay, but I didn't want to invest in it...
I also didn't have time to moderate it. People would post garbage and it would bump the older posts that were actually okay.
Maybe some time in the future I might add something back, but not any time soon. Too much other stuff going on.

Creating our own version would be pretty easy, but like you said, would then need moderating.

Don't know Angelus. That's a mighty long list of 'currently playing'. You sure you will have the time?

Well, somebody can set up our own map, and add images / names / whatevers manually, and updating it whenever anybody wants to be on it.

Hehe, thats true Gron!
Re: World Map ( A question for my dearest Erpy)
Do we really need a World Map? I've never even seen the point of one to be honest, especially in this day and age. I removed the one from IA because I just didn't think it was necessary. We already know where we're from due to the User Info Box on the left hand side of our posts, who really needs to know the pin point exact location? Maybe sexual predators like Blackthorne who want to find me but other than that I think the knowing what country you're from is enough if you want to let it be known to the public. Sure, it's a bit of fun but it's just something that isn't needed. It's similar to the age old website features such as the Guestbook and the Chatroom. We're just reaching an age where these kinds of tools are not only unused and forgotten about but are just plain ugly and silly.
But it's up to Navynuke if he wants to implement one, I was just voicing my opinion on World Maps.

I agree.
But it could be fun if we have a map of Glorianna and choose our positions on that. Fun, yes. Worth the effort, no.

Re: World Map ( A question for my dearest Erpy)
This game is much harder without a map.

Oh, we're on two completely different wavelengths here, buddy. We're talking about the forum map where you place your pin on the location that you are at. At least I hope we are.kosch wrote:This game is much harder without a map.

LOL! There was an actual map where you could place a pin and show people where you're from. The url was at the top of the forum. Heh. I guess new people to the forum wouldn't know.
