Quest for Glory 1 VGA

#1 Post by Sibby15 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 6:09 pm

Since QG2 is coming out soon I have been itching to play QG1VGA. Does anyone know where I can find it without having to pay $100 for the anthology on ebay?

Nope. Not if by "less than $100" you mean "for free". But I don't know either way, unfortunately. Diligent eBay-hunting is your best bet, I guess. :\

I wouldn't feel too bad about finding it for free since I have bought the game twice before, once in 92 on the floppy disks and again when the antholgy came out in 97.

It's a shame Vivendi hasn't republished QFG like it has other Sierra series. Hopefully they'll rethink that at some point.

I totally agree with you Kloreep. I wouldn't mind paying $20 to get those games again. And besides it's not like Vivendi is making any money when people are buying it off of ebay or amazon for 5 times as much, but oh well.

It's odd that they didn't do a re-release, like with KQ, SQ, PQ and LSL (by the way, did these sell out really quickly? They are getting harder to find already). Quest for Glory was a pretty major series on the Sierra label. Doesn't make any sense for Vivendi to just 'overlook' it.

Maybe they are waiting for AGDI to finish their remake and will package it along with the other four??

That's pretty much been the thinking in general. I figure they plan to simply release an XP set once QfG2 is out to capitalize on another ripple effect like MoE and the KQ1 remake.

That way there is consistancy between the 4 games, all of them being VGA. I hope they plan on releasing a QFG collection, I'd buy it definatly.

I think they didn't make a QFG collection because they couldn't fit all 5 games on one CD. Same reason why they didn't include LSL7 in the LSL collection. I doubt it has anything to do with waiting for the remake. Why wouldn't they wait to put the KQ remakes on the KQ collection if that was the case? Unlike LSL, however, QFG5 is a continuation of the QFG storyline and needs to be in any collection. They wouldn't just release the first 4 games...if they had any brains, that is...

Heh, when you think about it. All the Vivendi collections have missing games except for Space Quest. It's the only complete collection. LSL is missing LSL7 and Casino and probably a bunch of other Larry stuff, PQ is missing the first couple SWAT games, and KQ is missing MOE. SQ has all 6 games. Rock on Space Quest! Of course, I realize that the exemptions of MOE and the SWAT games are probably a good thing to most people, but I simply disagree.

Hmm, but in this day and age what about a dvd collection? Pretty much everyone has dvd drives on their computers these days.
Waaw imagine a Sierra collection with every series they did. SQ KQ QFG LSL etc... :)

QFG is nowhere near $100 on ebay, I've just searched again and the best value is only $50 and it's near mint condition with everything in the box. If you want just the CD for anthology, that's around the $5 mark.

And the SQ collection was missing the original AGI version of SQ1. But I digress.

Because that would cost more money to produce. Think about it. They wouldn't even put an extra CD in any of the packages. They stuffed as much as they could on one CD to save costs and cut everything that wouldn't fit.

I'm talking about the recent Vivendi collections, Angelus. The UPP had like 4 or 5 CDs. Vivendi's only has 1.

Very true, but I'm talking simply from a complete series standpoint. Technically speaking, SQ1AGI and SQ1VGA are the same game. I could go really strict and say it's very incomplete because it doesn't have SQ1AGI, SQ1AGI V1.0, SQ1Remake EGA, SQ4Disk EGA, and SQ4Disk VGA. But I digress...

They should release all these anthologies on Steam.

Actually there is SQ1EGA on the disk, there was an unofficial patch released to be able to unlock and play it, adding a tab with all the other ones. I'm not sure where the patches are these days, take a search on the SpaceQuest.net forums, maybe.

If it was on CD, I don't know why they wouldn't put it on. I just had a look, and including the Space Quest 6 CD stuff, the Space Quest series was only 200meg or so.

What are you talking about? It's not on the CD to unlock. I have it. It's not there. Anywhere. Unless it's hidden in a secret compressed file somewhere I don't know about...
