I concur! Christmas 2004 would have been way better! Everyone could have gotten the game 4 years early, with the added bonus of game crashes, choppy game-play, inconsistent artwork, and the first few pages of feedback consisting of bug reports!!! Also, with little planning for the massive amount of downloads, we could have had a totally rad incident of being slash-dotted. It would have been awesome, and everyone who played the official release would get to be a tester in their own right. Getting the game faster and flawed, is better than slower and perfect. J/K
I think it's safe to say Bt was joking.....right?

YEAH REALLY!
I have to wash my dog on Sunday. How am I supposed to annoy Griffin's, chase the Marx Brothers, Hug a Tree and watch a half naked Cat-Woman dance with a wet dog running around my house? ANSWER ME THAT!
And, yes, suffice to say - I'M KIDDING.
And, yesh, the release coinciding with the celebration of the birth of Milan Easton? Well, that's just cool. The only thing I released on my birthday was a giant burp that scared my dog.

Washing your dog? That's hardly an excuse to complain about the release date.
How about this: I might miss downloading QFG2VGA immediately on release due to possible power outages caused by a tropical storm that's currently bearing down on my house. (True!)

If you knew my dog, you wouldn't worry about pithy tropical storms.
This is Harlee. She is "The Beast".

*Squee!*
"Sunday evening" (I'm assuming Pacific US time?) means Monday afternoon for me as well, but I can live with that. It's practically here! AND I've still got one more week of blissfully short work days in which to enjoy it which is definitely an added bonus for me. I can certainly live with having to wait until I get home Monday night to download it. So excited! Wow... I can't wait for the weekend to be over... that's never happend before.
Love the artwork by the way, another lovely job Eriq.

That's the cold-hearted complaint. The warm-hearted complaint would be "WHY ISN'T IT SUNDAY YET?!"

The one question I have is did you guys change anything in the game or is it 1:1? I thought you said you got rid of the x-ray glasses thing but did you change some of the jokes like giving ferrari the bird? Cause that's what helped make this game a RPG comedy. I know some of them might a little hard to add like dismounting while your already dismounted. But I didn't think too much need to be changed with the jokes or story in QFG2.
Do you guys know how big the game is?

We're adhering to a "don't ask, don't tell" policy for the duration of the next two days (i.e. You'll have to discover whether all those Easter Eggs were included for yourself when you play the game next week!)
The final filesize of the installer is just over 85MB. The installed game files come to just over 206MB, not including any savegame files.

Hmmm, I can understand why it would be bigger, since it's 32-bit colour, and modern driver support etc, but how come the game is literally about 100 times the size of qfg1 VGA? Did they use some special compression methods on the origional games?
Apologies but i don't know much about AGS and programming.

Ah figures. I'm not surprised, I just thought I'd try to ask...
I will take the time to see about those jokes.
85 or 206 MB doesn't sound like it would take up all the space on a computer.
Thanks for the reply.

The digital ogg vorbis music and sound effects take up a large amount of filesize, as do the many new sprites and graphical resources used in the game.
Also, AGS games are just larger by default than the SCI Sierra games were.

The 24 August will not be only big day for Quest for glory fans because after all those years it is finally happening. Quest for glory 2 VGA is finally coming out.
This day will also be a glorius day for all Icelandic people because we made it in the final in Handball in the olimpic games. If we win the French handball team Iceland will get the gold medal in the first time. This day is already the biggest day for icelandic sports. I know it will be a really great day for AGDI girl too becauce her birthday is too on 24 August so don't forget after you get QFG2VGA to wish her happy birthday. I have already said to her that she sure picked up a right day to realease Quest for Glory 2 VGA because now I will never forget to wish her happy birthday in the future.
Many Icelandic people are crying of happeness after we won the Spain.
I just can't beleave it.
The 24 August will be one of the most rememberable day for everybody here. Cheers!
Ps...I know I have forgot to wish some of you who had birthday happy birthday so does...better is late than never count in.
Happy Birthday and may we never forget 24 August 2008 the most glorious day for everybody to unite us again to download the most waited free game ever.

I've never posted here before though I've been watching and (sometimes) patiently waiting for at least a couple of years.
I'm so happy to have the game finally released. It's being released the day before classes start again for me and I still will play it probably all night and every free moment there is. Thank you to everyone who's put time and energy into this project.
Blackthorne ... is that really your dog? Anyway, she's adorable.
Thanks again.

Tallahassee. It's raining here too, but not sideways - yet.
More on-topic: I'm going to take the release date with a grain of salt. Not because I doubt AGDI's word, but I find it rather hard to believe, somehow, that the cosmic powers that be will let the game release on time after so long a wait... Here's hoping I'm just a worrywart.

Yep. That's really my dog. She's a Jack Russell/Pug mix - a Jug. She's quite a little spaz. She hangs around me too much.
Ironically, I was recording some lines for SQ2 in a funny voice, which made her bark a lot. I think adventure games frighten her.

Well, she does favor socialist politics with a heavy leaning towards Karl Marx, but she doesn't possess many of the qualities a typical communist does.
