KQ1VGA and KQ2+ undergoing maintainance

#1 Post by Erpy » Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:24 pm

Visitors may have noticed that even though the AGDI site is now back up, the pages for the King's Quest remakes are still missing. The two games are currently undergoing maintainance, which is why they're not available for download right now. When they're finished, each of them will receive a separate page on the site and the game will be re-uploaded. We'd like to thank everyone for their patience and hope QFG2VGA will suffice to keep you busy for the time being.

Does that mean, they're being updated, and downloading them again would be required?
Or is there no changes for end users?

Yes, they'd have to be downloaded again.

I predict the opening sequence, installer, etc. will now say AGDI, have the same consistent copyright notice, etc.

Yes, the main reason is simply to update the new logos and branding to AGDI instead of Tierra. It's long overdue, as we were actually supposed to do that back in 2003. :rolleyes

Aside from that, we'll be addressing all the bugs and issues that have been reported for both KQ games over the years. We might tweak a few little things here and there. Nothing really out of the ordinary, though.

Oh great, thanks. :D

I hope they have a Resolution for a 22inch Monitor with a Size of 1680x1050. 8o

I hope the whole Father thing is fixed or cut out from KQ2VGA, because there are two Threads about it and the Game still confuses me at that part. :alien:

You're still confused? I remember you saying that a long time ago and I asked you then why you were so confused because I was ready to explain it to you. You never did say what was so confusing about it.

I'm sure the answer will be "when it's ready" but when do these games go back online? I need to redownload them.

You're right, that's the answer. You'll be happy you waited though.

I don't want too much to change! I loved the whole game, and what's confusing about the father? And so is the site gonna go back to normal soon?
EDIT: I just went to the site, and... Cool, I'm sure it'l be great when the new versions come out!

Eh, don't worry. The latest versions won't have any story-changes.

Hey, I'm sure that you guys are probably tired of getting replies to this post but I actually had a question for you. You guys originally began this post in late August telling us that the two games were taken down for general maintenance work, which consisted of fixing the logos, branding, and repairing a few bugs that occured during gameplay. I'm sure that fixing bugs takes time, but it's now January and it's been a little over four months now without hearing a date of when the games will be brought back up. Again, I'm sure that you guys have a lot to take care of in your own lives and have other projects that you're working on, but it's kind of a let down that the games have been taken down so long and we're not hearing about any estimates of when the game will be brought back up. Is it going to be months down the road, is it going to be weeks? I wouldn't be so upset about this if I didn't like the remakes so much and I've been wanting to play them for months now, and haven't been able to due to a computer crash that wiped out most of my saved files on the harddrive.

Can we have an estimate of when the games will be brought back up, or maybe someone out there can tell me if there are any other places where I can find the old remake versions?

The updated build of KQ1VGA has passed the testing process as we speak and will be available very shortly. We have an internal date set, although I'm afraid I can't give that one out in public.
