Feature request: allow to skip long dialogs

#1 Post by bugmenot » Fri Sep 12, 2008 7:10 pm

I'm not sure it was possible in QFG3 but I think it was in QFG4. While a left click moved on the next screen of dialog, a right click skipped it (as if you kept left clicking repeatedly). In the remake, not even the escape button escapes long dialogs, so please add such a feature if you release a new version.

There are already a few scenes that can be skipped with escape, such as Shema's dance, Uhura entering the training room/putting Simba down/walking into place, the pre-combat panning/scrolling and the hero walking over the dunes of the town overlook.

There aren't really a lot of instances where characters say more than 3 lines in a row. What scenes were you thinking of skipping?

I didn't mean long scenes, but long dialogs. There are quiet a few of those. As a random example, try talking about anything to the meat seller.

Yeah, but holding the enter key usually lets you zip past those.

That's really not the same as one quick keyboard sparing right click.

It's not really worth the time and effort it'd take to implement, when you can simply hold the enter or escape keys.

I'm finding me skipping a lot the animation of Shema everytime she brings me the meal or goes away, and the animation when you leave Shapeir on foot. They are repetitive and somewhat slow (with default speed settings), so it's really a bless that I can skip them.

I didn't know you could skip those things (and I even read the manual). Oops :o

It's kind of an undocumented feature (not same as a bug) since we weren't really all that consistent in letting players skip stuff. Just some of the more common animations.

Does come in handy though and saves some frustration so thanks for that.

We're not able to skip the poet's poems, though, are we?
