You've Been Playing Too Much QfG2 When . . . (Spoilers)

#1 Post by Fading Aura » Mon Sep 15, 2008 6:23 am

After playing the Quest for Glory 2 remake since its release, several oddities have begun to appear. These symptoms generally point to playing the game way, way too much. So, without further ado, You Know You've Been Playing Too Much Quest for Glory 2 When . . .

. . . the "chase" theme plays when you begin running somewhere.
. . . . . . and the "death" theme when you trip.
. . . ordinary graffiti suddenly holds new meaning.
. . . you stick various devices up your nose in order to improve your skill with them (don't try this one at home!)
. . . that vase on your friend's mantle looks like it could go for at least 30 dinars.
. . . you sneak everywhere in a vain attempt to improve a skill you don't have.
. . . flowers become a new way of expressing yourself to others.
. . . trees hold a new fascination.
. . . . . . and you can't stop hugging them.
. . . you attempt to stop a tornado by throwing dirt at it (again, don't try this at home!)

Anyone else?

... you greet and say goodbye to everyone you pass by.
... you try to bargain useless objects from cats.
... you try to sleep off a major injury.
... you walk into a bar at closing time hoping for a chat with the owners.
... you trade in your car for a green Ford Taurus convertible and change the T into an S.
... people with long beards cross their arms protectively when you approach.

...You wave your hands at someone, and then wonder why they weren't blasted back by your force bolt.
...You grasp for your sword everyime you see a guy with a beard outside.
...You throw daggars at people who don't see you
...You like to pick up huge amounds of stones until you get a back-ache, then you like to throw them one after another to grind your skill.
...You frequently ask every person you can about as many topics as possible.
...You always carry with you at least 4 waterskins.

Slightly less amusing, but...

- You actually have freaky/strange dreams about the game world, or playing the game.
- You find yourself humming assorted pieces of music that fit with any real-life situations that are even remotely appropriate (the Metal Worker's thief job bit when trying to skirt by your boss at work, say?) Or, a game tune will just pop into your head at random, then 'will not go away' no matter what you do.

... you offer to pay $0.75 for an item on the dollar menu.
... you ask your local pub for a Djinn Sling.
... you wonder why your 'open' spell didn't work on the elevator doors.
... you give money to beggers on the street, but become annoyed when they don't have any information for you.
... start asking people obvious question, just in case you get points for it.
... measure distances in skareens.
... tell your girlfriend/wife to exercise more because she must weigh at least 7500 quarks (not recommended).

My wife walked into a room to find my two-year-old daughter holding her hands over her eyes. When she asked what my daughter was doing, my daughter said, "I'm raising my skills!" Yes, I think my daughter has watched me play a wee bit of Quest for Glory recently (though I'm still not sure what skill she was raising...).

Your daughter must be incredibly intelligent to have picked that up so young.
What a wonderful story :)

I can attest to the validity of that warning. I've been without power for 48 hours and the dirt didn't do a dang thing (though in truth it was a gale-force windstorm, not a tornado).

Heh-heh-heh; I should have done that to my old one (though I prefered the fact that I'm a mid-May birthday and, as such, am under the sign of Taurus and have the emerald as my birthstone).
