What's The SecreTo The 5th Elemental?

#1 Post by linkin182 » Thu Oct 16, 2008 10:11 pm

I keep hearing rumors of the fifth elemental but I don't have any idea how to face it. Do I have to pick up a pizza box from the end of one of the trash alleys or something?

As Aziza will tell you, every Elemental must be kept in an appropriate container. In the case of the one you speak of, you cannot face it first; you must have dealt with at least the Fire Elemental first.

It's also not exactly attacking the city. (due to its bad sense of direction)

I must have travelled 90 screens or so. Then I saved my game, and enabled silly clown mode, and then I saw him straight away. As soon as silly clowns were off, I never saw him.

Weird.

Anyway, the wait was worth the fight. I beat him eventually, with 1 health to spare (WHEW!)

I like the fact that you can press "Escape" to skip past many of the sequences, it really helped to get past the initial conversation you have with the guy, especially if you keep getting hammered.

Not that weird. He's an easter egg as well, so he falls under silly clowns. I didn't know there was ANYBODY out there playing with Silly Clowns turned off.

Well... I wanted to encounter monsters out in the desert rather than golfers, signs, etc (as they're my main source of income..) and didn't know if they would affect the chances of a monster encounter. Interesting as I got led astray for a long time; the hints leading to the guy are still in the city with clowns off, even though he doesn't appear with silly clowns off, so it just didn't occur I would HAVE to then subsequently have it on..

I think it's the monsters who have priority and the eggs get removed if there's a monster in the screen. It shouldn't affect the monster encounter rate and besides, most silly clowns are one-time only.

Are the signs in the desert considered Silly Clowns? I actually got one to show up on the screen with the Fifth once.

Yes they are. However, not every clown is incompatable with a monster encounter.

Oh, I know. I just found it odd that a Silly Clown sign could appear alongside a Silly Clown encounter.

Soooo....

In keeping with the question of Silly Clowns and the like, is there a way to trigger specific Silly Clowns, in the same way that you can bring up specific monsters in Battle Mode? That would be quite TeH Aw3z0mg.

No, there isn't. All random easter eggs simply use a random number that's generated the moment you enter the room and there's no way to alter that with the debug options. The reason it IS possible to summon monsters is because there was so much testing involved with battle that I added a debug feature specifically for that purpose. For easter eggs, whenever I needed to test one, I'd simply remove the random factor for the time being and put it back once I was done testing.

Okay, that. Can we/how do we do that? Is that like a Global Int or summink?

No, removing the random factor was a matter of making a small change in the code, compile the source, test it and undo the change when everthing was working as expected. In order to do this, you'd need the actual game source. There's plenty of things you can fiddle with by modifying the global int variables from the debug menu, but making sure easter eggs appear in a screen is not one of them.

It's hard to believe most players fighting the pizza elemental (PE) would not simultaneously experience a co-occurring silly clown event sooner or later (sign or golf flag) due to the ample opportunity for restore! (i.e. getting destroyed by PE).
