For a very much broken demo? Just ZIP it. I don't think demos should ever have installations unless they're of a finished game.

ZIP it, RAR it, CAB it, TAR it, GZIP it... but for the love of Jebus don't use an installer. It's just more annoying having to install a broken demo, play with it for a few minutes than uninstall it. Compressing it into a self extracting format allows a quick run through and that's it.

MI, I'm sure you're not nearly brave enough to be this cheeky in real life, but thanks for your response. I think I agree. Broomie, I think I'll just zip it. By the way, what I meant is that it's not perfectly ironed-out, meaning, say, the hero might not always come out in the exact place you'd expect him to be when changing rooms, and the music won't play throughout the game. Little things. But it shouldn't crash or anything.

And I think it's important to emphasize that I wrote the code from scratch, as opposed to using an engine (apart from the 3D rendering bit).

What? What's that supposed to mean? You asked a question and I gave you an answer of what I thought.

AGP, to answer your last question, ZIP it, I don't want no stinkin' installer! Same as the other dudes said.

And as another word of advice, similar to what Blackthorne said a while back, just do what you want to do, enjoy what you do and don't worry about what other people's words on a screen say. One thing I know, and I'm sure the people at AGDI will say this too, everybody has an opinion on your work. And most of the time it's just personal tastes that are the argument.

Don't take what people say to heart of you'll never finish your game. Do what makes you happy. If others like it, cool. If they don't, tell them to fuck off and do what you want to do anyway.

I'm just gonna say what everyone else says, Zip it! I'd rather have a zip than any archive btw, and installers are only good for big games. An installer would be good for the final game probably.

How are you distributing the demo?

Also dude i really don't think MI was trying to be remotely cheeky, read his reply again, all he did was answer your question, you should be careful not to make an enemy out of a friend.

Thanks everyone. Sorry, MI, I do get a little defensive online.

I just started a new thread with the link to the aforementioned BROKEN demo! If everyone who downloads it could write something about it (criticism of the constructive variety is welcome, help even moreso) I'd appreciate it.
